I'd love to get the Whipple on, but I'm not so sure that's happening anytime soon (if ever), lol.

Leedom 02-22-2011 10:53 AM

MM RLCAs and Panhard Bar.

These are going to be my next mod on the front of the Explorer. I just bought a pair and I'm going to meet up with Tex (the guy with the 1450 race truck) because he is going to help me tune them.

94cobra69ss396 03-03-2011 08:46 AM

Tuning these tomorrow.

89StangGuy 03-03-2011 09:11 AM

Get the SVO running right. I have 450cc injectors, rebuilt turbo to 3" downpipe, and full 3" exhaust, turbo master external boost controller, and fuel pressure regulator. I'll definitely make a meet/cruise when this beast is done.

Brodom 03-03-2011 10:02 AM

Was going to be simple and just do H&R Super Sport Springs (owned) and lower my car...but now in fear of blowing on my factory shocks with in a year I now need to buy Tokico blue Shocks and Struts (at least this is what i have been told will happen) and Motorcraft cast and camber plates...some don't need them apparently but I'll play it safe...

Shaolin Crane 03-03-2011 10:36 AM

Are you shocks/struts totally hammered? I know tons of people who lower their cars on the factory dampeners, unless your car has high miles and they are original i still dont forsee it being a huge problem. Sure there are better options out there but you will most likely need C/C plates.

What Shaolin Crane said. I have Steeda Sport Springs on the front of my Mustang with stock shocks and I only got C/C Plates to get a better alignment (I recommend this).

Brodom 03-03-2011 11:07 AM

My car only has 76,000miles and the ride is fine (original shocks I'm pretty sure), but because the shocks would be constantly compressed wouldn't that cause them to wear faster? I also heard if you don't change shocks and struts the ride is really bouncy on lowering springs...but I suppose that depends on the springs...I'd like to try just springs and CC plates first, and get shocks and struts only if needed or the ride is horrible. Then again I'd rather just do it all at once if that's what it comes down too.

I'll go with what you guys say then, the other people i have heard from don't have Mustangs anyways just general car buffs...I'll get some CC plates today and then I'll go ahead and install my new springs and isolators

94cobra69ss396 03-03-2011 12:58 PM

Having to get caster/camber plates all depends on how much the new springs lower the front end. If the factory plates allow you to get the camber within the spec you want you won't need them. I was just able to get the factory spec out of mine when I installed Progress lowering springs on my Cobra years ago. I now have H&R springs but I run more camber than the factory spec is.

Also, the struts won't be bottomed out even with the lowering springs and wear would be the same no matter if it is lowered or not. The only issue is whether the current strut/shock have enough rebound for the new spring rate. Do you know what the spring rate is on the H&R spring?

Brodom 03-03-2011 02:17 PM

H&R springs i got specs are as follows
Front: drop 1.75in. rate 700-760 lb/in
Rear: drop 1.6in. Rate 275-300 lb/in

94cobra69ss396 03-03-2011 02:43 PM

With that much drop you will most likely need the caster/camber plates. Are you sure on those rates? If so, they are pretty stiff and the stock struts/shocks will have a tough time dampening them. You can run the stock ones but a set of the Bilsteins that Maximum Motorsports has would work better.

Brodom 03-03-2011 03:07 PM

I dont care to much for a smooth ride and would prefer to feel the road more...and im not loaded with $$$$...i'll get the cc plates and try stock shocks first...if its bad/unbearable i'll get the bilsteins or tokico blues

Shaolin Crane 03-03-2011 03:21 PM

Looks like my next mod will be this...

Its a roller, but has cobra brakes in the front, wants 1200 for it as it sits, waiting on more pics and my buddy from sac to go look at it(looks like im getting another car up north) but so far looks to be a good candidate to put my stock engine and tranny in for my lady to start racing again...

94cobra69ss396 03-03-2011 03:31 PM

That's nice looking. I hope it turns out to be as good as it looks in this picture. Does it have any suspension or just the brake upgrade?

Shaolin Crane 03-03-2011 11:56 PM

Looks to be just the cobra brakes. Which is fine cause it will give room for my lady to learn to how to improve and wrench on a car. Interior is very clean and I have a friend who lives minutes from the seller(and happens to be a good friend of the seller too) is going to go take some additional non biased pictures and the seller even agreed to hold it for me if i left a deposit until i can make reservations and set a weekend aside to go pick it up. So far looks to be good, hopefully it will all work out, if not then that money goes back to the vegas fund

Ryridesmotox 03-04-2011 12:56 AM

Hmm... Hankook Z214 245/40R18 for the front.

Then a turbo swap and I'm done for a while. Probably going this route... Link I'll be getting the stage 2 from BNR with a 2871 journal bearing 56 trim wheel.

700R4 with a 25-2800 stall. I had mine rebuilt. Broken sprag and bell-ed out the shell.

I was in the habit of manually downshifting it. I liked the exhaust burble on deccel . Aparrently , I was doing it at too high of speed( I did get a bark from the tires).

"We build them to upshift, downshift, not so much."

He told me not to do that
Frankie said " That will be hard for you. Maybe I should drive it ! " That's my gal !

Shaolin Crane 03-05-2011 05:08 PM

Well the dude sold the car to someone local. So seems i'm gonna spend that cash on vegas/car parts.

C5Natie 03-05-2011 10:57 PM

My next mod is a ported FAST 102mm intake with a NW 102MM tb.

C5Natie 03-05-2011 11:02 PM

Leedom 03-07-2011 11:09 AM

Next mod now is Struts for the front.

94cobra69ss396 03-07-2011 11:12 AM

How did the pan hard line up? How does the rear feel compared to before? I know on mine it made a huge difference.

I am sure I will start a thread regarding the ordeal with the installation, but long story short... original location was correct but I thought it was off when we were installing it so we mounted it wrong because of me. So yesterday my dad and I mounted it up in the correct location and the preload on the uppers got messed up so I did not have time to loosen and retighten them yesterday and could not drive it (damn rain and darkness last night). The exhaust needs to be reworked as well so I have not driven it yet all assembled so I will let you know when I do.

Shaolin Crane 03-07-2011 12:56 PM

Man I still think it was my fault, next time i'll leave the chatty kathy for afterwards so there is no in work confusion.

But im glad everything worked out the way it needed to in the end

10yearrx7 03-07-2011 02:38 PM

Just installed stainless brake lines on my car. But I have not tested them because I lowered my coilovers to much and now im stuck in the garage til I raise them back up.
