It not quite the year you wanted but its cheap and low miles.

http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/cto/3038597056.html

Again not the year but 4x4

http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/cto/3006569117.html

Not a lot of info but the year you wanted.

The IE is the best place to find trucks at a low price.

Shaolin Crane 06-05-2012 01:03 PM

No, sacramento is generally a 35% price difference

But I'm kind of sure he doesn't want to go that far for a truck

Shaolin Crane 06-05-2012 02:25 PM

If the difference is several thousand dollars then i'm sure he would. I drove to sac for the 08 cause it was 6k less then comperable trucks in the area

Besides, staying in old town sac is always worth it

That is where the Mustang came from but not really at this point wanting to go that far. If I saved a few thousand though, I would consider it.

Shaolin Crane 06-05-2012 09:04 PM

Tis where my mustang came from as well.

Chuck 06-06-2012 05:56 AM

Kinda hard to tell but my guess is its gas. Get a 4x4 you will regret not getting one later. Just my advice.

That is what I am thinking as well. That truck was gas.

SeanPlunk 06-06-2012 10:56 PM

Do it. You could get him down to 12k.

SeanPlunk 06-06-2012 10:57 PM

Another.

Looks like a road trip to Arizona may be in order. Bring your papers ;)

That would be quite the road trip. Not really looking forward to something like that right now. Tempting though.

SeanPlunk 06-07-2012 02:29 PM

Don't be a puss. We'll rent a car and drive out, LOL.

Shaolin Crane 06-07-2012 02:47 PM

Adam, that truck is WELL worth the drive. I know i'm interested in it, especially for such low miles.

Thinking about this one. Not sure what restored title means, been salvage at some time? Gotta check the schedule. You are coming with? 6.5 hrs there 6.5 back.

Anyone have a way to get a VIN checked (free)?

It depends on whether your insurance company considers it financially prudent to revive the car or just send it to the junkyard. If it goes with the latter, the Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) will certify the automobile as "salvage," deeming it unfit for use on the road. It will be issued a new title branded with the term Salvage.

However, even that does not mean the end if you believe in restoration. You can choose to restore the salvage vehicle to make it ready for the road, but it will be the MVD that has the final say. Once you have completed the necessary repairs, your salvage vehicle needs to be inspected to verify that it is fit to drive on the open road.

Still not a bad deal for something with such low miles. Maybe when you register it here you don't have to keep the salvage title.

SeanPlunk 06-07-2012 05:33 PM

I'd stay clear of the grey truck and go for the white.

Greatly damaged isnt alwasy true, theft, is one where a truck can suffer no damage but it was missing longer then 30 days and a payout was made

That's true.

Shaolin Crane 06-07-2012 06:50 PM

If you have AAA every member gets one vin check for free and additionals at a greatly discounted rate, something to look into

Exactly what the owner said. I am still pretty leery and leaning toward staying away..

His response to my e-mail:
I have not modified this truck since I bought it Feb 2010. When I bought it, it had no muffler and no catalytic converter. I have installed a cat, and it now passes Phoenix emissions with no problems. I have no idea what any previous owner might have done. It is much faster than I thought a big diesel truck should be.

A restored title means that at some point in the vehicle’s history, the title was classified as salvage. In the case of this truck, it is because it was stolen, then recovered. Since the insurance company had to pay the claim on it, the title was classified salvage. I bought it from a dealership after all of that. I had Arizona do a Level III inspection, and the paperwork states all of this. I find no evidence of collision damage anywhere. There is a small section of the lower left fender that got crinkled when the tire came apart on the freeway. All tires (including spare) were replaced after that.

This is kind of picky but I really do not want a Tan interior. Ideally I'd get gray.

Vettezuki 06-08-2012 01:02 AM

What does it matter if you're going to get it reupholstered in Seafoam anyway?

SeanPlunk 06-08-2012 08:40 AM

What exterior colors are okay? Most of the whites have tan interiors...

SeanPlunk 06-08-2012 08:48 AM

Maybe.

SeanPlunk 06-08-2012 08:49 AM

This one is in Orange. How good are you at negotiating?

SeanPlunk 06-08-2012 08:51 AM

I'm looking at F350's and it really opens up the selection. What's the difference?

Another.

if the truck is an auto it shouldnt have a cat at all. Sounds like he purchased it from the auto salvage place in AZ. Run the VIN and check the story, i personally have always wanted the gunmetal color to match the race car. Worse case scenario, i'll buy it from you later :) if you do buy it, make sure you remove the cat before titling in CA

Why would the insurance be a lot more expensive?
