Well, looks like I CAN do it.

I called my boss at the smog shop yesterday and told him to put me back on the schedule for the 18th. I told him I just couldn't swing the cash+lost day of work. He called me today and told me he would pay my entry fee, cause he knows how bad I wanted to go, and he appreciates how hard I work! :drink::drink::drink::drink:

Shaolin Crane 02-02-2012 05:51 PM

Gawd if you guys are going to try and razz me step up your game.

Chuck has undeniable evidence that he loves nemo. Probably all disney movies.

Chuck 02-03-2012 03:26 PM

Okay ill admit I have some dumb tattoos the results of living across the street from your roommates tattoo shop. Many nights spent there drinking till 4-5-6 am and it was hard for me to turn down a free tattoo. But it has nothing to do with finding Nemo it was going to be an underwater scene but like many things it is unfinished.

AT LEAST I DO NOT LOVE KITTENS!!!

Shaolin Crane 02-03-2012 09:00 PM

Dude, I dont have to defend myself about my girlfriends post, you willingly let pixar brand you :D

We can all meet up at the gas station right by the airfield entrance a little bit before 6:30 and we can roll in together. I'll post up some details on where to go either later tonight or tomorrow sometime. There's a couple of us locally in the South Bay that will caravan out and we can meet you guys there.

Here's the gas station:
14886 Sand Canyon Avenue, Irvine, CA 92618-2101 (Sand Canyon Services Station)
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=AMCI+D...29,-117.758567

Map showing the airfield and the gas station is on the left hand side. Maybe later I will post another map that shows the directions on how to get into the airfield.

There is a forum where some questions/answers are posed/answered. Check it out: http://www.pcaocr.com/forum/viewforu...6009ca5fa84c7d

lmfao ^ yes, it sucks. I hate getting up early too if I can avoid it. You'll be happy you did it, trust me

I'll try marking up a map later to show exactly where to go on the airfield. When I look at the map I thought to myself "duh" it's not that hard :smack:

blackax 02-17-2012 11:45 PM

Damn it i forgot to print a tech sheet at work!

kdracer73 02-18-2012 06:18 PM

That was FREAKIN AWESOME !!!!!

mdpalmer 02-18-2012 06:20 PM

I was stoked to have all of you guys come out. I had a great time, aside from having to fix my heat shield rubbing my tires issue :) I was a little disappointed how the communication was between staff and students, they didn't have a PA/megaphone working. There was some lopsidedness in how many runs for a given event depending on what group you were in. I enjoyed the costco pizza, however ;)

My favorite event was definitely the figure 8, esp on the dry, I had the instructor with the red shirt who was encouraging me to drift, I learned more in 2 minutes with that guy in my car than I have in the last 6 years of driving it lol. The skidpad was really fun too, it really gave me a feel for the under/oversteer.

The braking one was retarded. I got totally different tips from different instructors. Oh well.

Look forward to another one, keep in mind these guys put autocross on almost monthly!

It was a huge ego boost, having instructors fight for my ride along

Redondo Jon 02-18-2012 09:53 PM

I had the same experience with the accident avoidance exercise; three different instructors, three completely different sets of instructions. That coupled with an almost useless flag-person… However, set aside that one exercise and the rest of the day was tremendously fun! My favorite, by a huge margin, was the skid pad. Strangely enough, that was the one event I was most concerned with. I just pictured myself continually spinning out and not being able to do it but the minute I relaxed and felt how the car was responding, it was like the sky opening up before me. I couldn’t be any more pleased with my progress. The mini auto-cross at the end of the day was a thousand tons of fun too.

I’d like to thank you again Mike for posting the initial info and for all the work you put into the organization; maps, times, meet spots, etc. And of course to those who attended. The event was made more enjoyable by you being there. :drink:

Shaolin Crane 02-19-2012 12:13 AM

Is is sad i cannot attend

georgetek 02-19-2012 12:27 AM

Today was a blast thank you Mike for inviting us! I also loved the figure 8 and for some reason my group didn't end up doing the braking exercise. Oh well I don't need to brake anyway. So when's the next one?

George
