So, any word on a new route? The La Canada Flintridge stretch looks really nice but is swarming with cops and traffic since it just opened.

So?

Put a front plate on and join the parade.

Eight of us went up a couple weeks ago and had no problems with anyone, it was nice.

You gonna get up in numbers you'll likely have issues, run six-eight cars at a time and meet someplace on the other side.

don2000 06-06-2011 10:21 AM

It's open! It's all open, every piece of road, I spent yesterday killing a tank of gas up there. I started in La Canada went to Wrightwood, then to Tajunga and ended up back in La Canada. Awesomeness! There are two temporary signals in use up on the crest, one where the mountain seems to be halfway on the road, and the other where the road seems to be halfway down the mountain, these two spots are down to one lane. I did see two CHP motorcycles up on the crest, one at the end of a very long straightaway, the other about a mile before(west) of the tunnels. Both times I was warned by a motorcycle rider going the other way. But the E55 in front of must not have known what it meant when the rider patted the top of his helmet, he floored it down the straight and got to have a meeting with the CHP officer. As far as road conditions, the new front side is smooth as a babys butt, stays that way on to the crest. After a while it goes back the the old pavement, but is still very clean. After passing Mt. Waterman I started seeing some road debris (rocks) not a lot of them but a few big ones, at one point I needed to be mostly in the other lane to avoid them. But these are all the charms of driving in the mountains, I had a great day and hope you guys and gals do too. Don't think I will be able to join you on the 12th.

BRUTAL64 06-06-2011 04:40 PM

Won't be able to go.:bang:

SeanPlunk 06-06-2011 10:06 PM

Was going to work on this tonight, but dealt with family drama all night instead.

How about this route?

Kozak 06-07-2011 12:28 PM

I like that route, that's where Kozak lives. Not sure I"m gonna be able to go though...still in limbo

Well that did not work. Sheriff told me that the plate has to be unobstructed. From the side he said it is obstructed.

BRUTAL64 06-07-2011 01:19 PM

Family drama???------I only get Kitty drama.:censored:

That lot is small. It was always hard finding some place big enough to work for us. I also was trying not to change the meet point, but I certainly can.

mustangray 06-07-2011 08:28 PM

Are we meeting any place after to have a little nosh ?

I see your point....just hate going the extra distance to Sunland , and wanted to check out the fresh assfault ! ( I know it is spelled wrong, that is a throw back to my ex wife , when she asked me was my tire " making that damn squeeling noise ? " I told her it was the asphalt. " Damn right it is the ass' fault! "was her reply)

Yeah, there's gotta be a grocery store or something by La Canada Flintridge.

There is a Vons just South of the spot I marked...but it is a little late to change all the boards.

Isn't that were we met back in 2009? There was plenty of room on the side road leading to ACH Highway...I can only imagine how pristine the road conditions must be now.

SeanPlunk 06-08-2011 08:55 PM

We're taking this route. Changing the OP information. Posting new route on all boards.

Redondo Jon 06-08-2011 09:51 PM

Thank you Sean. The parking lot in the back looks almost deserted…or are we meeting in the main Vons parking lot?

Gotcha. Forgot to read the updated first post (D'oh!)

Since there is 7 pages on this.

Is this correct.
Meeting at Vons in LaCanada noon
ending up at fuddruckers, ontario mills mall.

You probably know this already but exiting the 15 at Cleghorn rd (just south of 138) is a stretch of old 66. road is in good shape and would make a good pic stop. You return to the 15 before the 15/215 split.

You're right on.

landshark99 06-11-2011 09:19 AM

fyi, there were two fatal accidents yesterday on Angeles Crest Hwy, so as one article stated "The CHP has intensified traffic enforcement efforts along the roadway since its reopening on June 3."

Lovely,

And I don't even have the front plate for my car. No one ever installed it and I'm 3rd owner.

+1.

C5Natie 06-11-2011 04:24 PM

I'd say aggressive driving up there this weekend is out of the question unless someone wants to just slowly cruise it. Itll be a waste and too risky if youre a canyon carver. If they were giving chicken $hit tickets for front plates be assured theyll find anything to detour "performance cars" from hitting the twisties.

Mazda Miata strikes again!!!

Hey screw it man, if I can't have fun in a car that can do light speed, I'll do 55 in a car that makes it feel like zillion and a half miles an hour!

:penguin:

xSpeedAddictX 06-12-2011 09:18 AM

So are a lot of people still in? I don't have front plate damn it.

Small White Car 06-12-2011 09:35 AM

kdracer73 06-12-2011 09:59 AM
