178mph on an 1987 Vance and Hines prepped FZR1000 while on my way to see a cute blonde at UCSB the CHP officer that gave me the ticket said the "Helo" called off the pursuit when I was out running him (chopper of the time only did 150)

I know wasn't really a car story, so here.
The fastest in a car was 165mph on the 605 at 3am back in the early '80s

133 in the Chevelle (in the 1/4), 160 on Phil's old Katana and 170 in the Cobra.

Sounds like the car chase in the newer Gone in 60 seconds.

170 in your dvd playing, family chauferring across state lines cobra... mad respect for that car. Does it have ac even?

Id be willing to bet your car would go faster than mine. I think we both have enough hp to push our drag limits... and I know your car has got to be way more aerodynamic with that dam.

Lets test it... orangethorpe, right now.

Me. 130mph on a freeway for just a couple seconds. It's where 4th tops out for me and the Vette pulls pretty hard all the way there. I'd like to do an actual top speed run someday, but I'd want to square away a ton of safety items first as I don't have a death wish of any kind.

Bonus points if you have video and it was on a lake bed or sanctioned event.

I've gone to redline in 5th, The math says 165 so thats what I did (6500 X .84 X 3.73)

Some day I would love to go up to 6th. My car was drag limited to 186, but that is with 150 less hp

I'm also a fair bit lighter at 3,100lbs full wet, but I still think you have so much more HP and are lower to the ground (less frontal area) that you'd be faster. I'd probably not melt any pistons though so I could win by just managing to get to a top speed. And because it hasn't been wet in a month it runs right now! :jester:

Couldn't do sixth in my T56 even with 3.73 gears, it's something around .5 .

Yes, it does have AC. Currently the car's done though until I finish the heads.

130 in a Nissan 300z twin turbo

120 in the Camaro. And it gets very floaty at that speed ! 40 yr old stock suspension ain't built for it !
