Quality of the products has to do with the process involved in making the products not where they are made. Japanese stuff were pretty shabby in the early 1950's. Then a man W. Edwards Deming came to Japan and taught them Statistical Process Control methods which reduced cost and increase quality of the products. I am sure Ben's company is using these methods at their plants in China.
