I just couldn't let the opportunity to break your balls pass by. :drink:

There is a dry lake bed in CA (don't recall exactly where) where the CA High Speed Timing Association (or something like that) does their version of speed week (like the salt flats) once a year or so. Maybe that's worth looking into to see if we could just join that regular event.

What might be cooler is a group trip to the actual salt flats for the real deal where the big boys play, but that's quite a commitment.

The longset runway is about 2 miles. The husband of a friend of Frankie's puts on this event http://www.musclecar1000.com/ . It is a very costly luxury adventure, $5500 !! Each ! They drive up the coast, staying at 5 star hotels.

Last year they did drag racing at El Toro. One car on each runway. Not sure of any other details , outta my league.:uh:

Interesting. Ricky from OCHP just called them recently and they said it wasn't allowed. Maybe it's a different organization? I'll have to try to call directly.

How far?

enkeivette 02-09-2010 06:16 PM

It's about 10 hours, over 600 miles in Utah. Near a gambling city in Nevada, West Wendover.

It's doable, three day weekend maybe? Drive up Friday, stay in hotels Friday night and Run our cars Sat morning. Get towed home/ take an ambulance home later that Saturday.

I am fu*king Rain Man.

Southern California Timing Association.

El Mirage is the place in CA, not far at all. May 15-16 is their next event.

Well. . . now what?
