Anyone ever tried to open up one of those rattling cats and weld a u-bolt around the element to hold it in place?

Shaolin Crane 06-27-2013 08:35 AM

Being that shit is toxic as fuck, no. Plus once its breaks down and starts to rattle I doubt it would work even if you stopped it from moving.

enkeivette 06-27-2013 02:44 PM

Toxic? Isnt it just platinum?

Repost to get a quick answer

My 3L diesel takes 10 quarts to fill, but I should be fine driving home slowly with 4 right? Since the pickup tube is all the way at the bottom?

I dont see this motor having more than 4 quarts of oil galley capacity

SRS? It was fine, oil light turned off after I put the 4 quarts in. Limped it home for a mile

IF you were seriously that low, the engine would shut off anyhow. Most diesels use the oil pressure to fire the injectors. I had a nasty oil seal blowout on my old dually and limped it home(ish) while it was spraying oil from the back of the HPOP. Made it 2 blocks from the shop before it shut off, engine will shut down long before major damage occurs.
