Which Bumper for Leedom?

Leedom's bumper got hit by a piece of shrapnel from a semi on the way to the track Saturday, so he might be able to get a Cobra style for free. Which one looks better on the Mach?

In general, I prefer the 03/04 style, but for the Mach I like the 99/01 better. Somehow with the shaker hood it looks meaner to me.

Ill get the prices for you tonight but here is a list of everything needed to do a conversion like mine (Bumper only, no hood repaint)

You will need the following:

99-01 Cobra bumper*
Foglight bezels (left and right sides)*
Foglights (2) (Can be bought at www.mustangsunlimited.com)
Mach 1 Lip (Can reuse stock one. I bought one new)
12-screws (#6 size 3/4" long) (Can be bought at Lowes, Home Depot, ect.)
*-Can be bought at a Ford or SVT dealership)

Installation, you will need basic hand tools, jackstands and another person. The swap is very easy, the only strange part is getting to the sides of the bumper under the headlights. You will have to remove the front end of the fender liner and then get up under the fender to get to 2 nuts on studs on each side. Ill take some pics for you after I get the stocker back.


you can get them out of scaremento from the warehouse. about $400, not including the fog lights i have pn# i will post. i have a used torch red i can let go,needs fog lights, and bezels.

Mustangs Unlimited has reproduction fog lights with the bezels for around $54.95 a pop with the brackets already mounted. I figured it was better to save the cash than be worried about perfect authenticity given that this setup never appeared on a factory Mach anyway.

I voted for the 99/01. I think it looks better with the Mach specifically :thumbs_up:

I like either one, but I think that the 03/04 looks meaner. The 99/01 almost looks stock to me.

Onre of the things I do not like about the 99/01 is the fact it curves up in the middle as opposed to the 04/04 which has a flat bottom.

It's funny, that's what I do like about it. I think the Mach needs it's chin spoiler, and that really only works with the 99/01 style. A mach chin spoiler on a 03/04 would be too low and look goofy.

Looking at the Mach 1 board, the 99/01 is the way more popular swap too. I think most people want to retain the chin spoiler.

It's funny, but I think the 01 with splitter looks way more aggressive than the 03. The other issue I see is that the 03 is lower and Leedom's car is already very low. I'd imagine he'd scrape over everything...

Heard from my claims guy yesterday and he said my insurance co. is only paying for repair and paint. No new cobra bumper for me yet.

You can take the car to ANY repair shop that you want. Find a shop that claims the bumper needs to be replaced, simple as that.

You don't have to provide 3 estimates, etc. Let the insurance company haggle with the shop, and tell the shop you want to split the difference for the Cobra bumper.

They submitted teh claim as a replace and my iunsurance said repair. I really can't agrue. There is just a small gouge in the bumper. They said I can bring the new bumper in and they would paint and install for the claim price basically. I really would rather spend the $600 for the new bumper on performance mods.

How bad is this scratch:need_pics:Also do you have to pay your deductible for this, if so is it even worth the fix? You know your just going to be upset with the paint.

I would rather have a slightly different color fixed bumper than a bumper with chips and a pretty nast gouge in it. Will get a pic up eventually.
