the shop took my blown engine out saturday, and theyre closed sunday and monday...
but im hoping by friday i should have my car back but i might hav eto tell them to put it on hold.
because i dont want my old cams in this motor, and i just bought some new mean ass one about 20 minutes ago online and im hoping they can get here by this week.
so as far as my car being done except for cams should be wednesday-friday.
then i might have to wait till the following tuesday to have the cams installed
then im gonna use the lame 1300 dollar check the insurence gave me to buy 4 new not rain worthy tires lol, an alignment, and a new painted fender. and then my car will be complete. :D
so i should be able to track it in jan. if cali speedway is open :-D

How'd you blow your motor? And why are you paying someone else to pull it out for you?

lol i blew my motor because i ran my cruising partial to low throttle afr way too lean for even e85 in the hope of getting better fuel consumtion. and i guess it ended up messing up my cylinder 2 piston compression ring.
as for y im getting someone else to pull it and install it for me.
well im comfy with rwd type of front to back engine tranny setups..
but for real the evo intimidated me and has alot of steps to out an engine, and i guess i syched myself out and made it seem harder then what it probably is and ended up spending 1300 more to have them install and inistall my engine. :-( ya ya i know....i lost some cool points for that one. lol

What's the specs on the new cams? What else are you doing to the engine while it's out? Does it already have forged pistons from the factory?

so far this is what my engine is getting while its out.
-twin plate clutch of grabbyness
-head studs - so i can finally boost above 30psi
-springs and retainers, so my bigger cams wont tap my pistons and rev to 8000 rpm safetly
-kelford 272 intake/exhaust cams
-3" downpipe finally
-dual fuel pump set up
-ported intake mani
-dunlop z1 star spec 255/40/17 tires
-new passenger fender
-alignment
-cool little shift knob
as for my blown motor its brobably just gonna collect dust in my garage until i sell it or rebuild it, im not sure what i want to do yet.
as for cam specs
my currents cams - hks 272 intake/exhaust
HKS 272
Advertised Duration - 272 deg
Effective Duration - 214 deg @ 1mm
Lift - 10.8mm Int / 10.2mm Exh
Lobe Centerlines - 110 deg Int / 110 deg Exh
LSA - 110 deg
the new cams i bought are kelford 272 in/ex
Kelfrd 272
Advertised Duration - 272 deg
Effective Duration - 226 deg @ 1mm
Lift - 11mm Int / 11mm Exh
Lobe Centerlines - 130 deg Int / 113 deg Exh
LSA - ?? i dont know

also look at this thread on cam tests done by one of the biggest evo shopped in the U.S.
remember i currently have the hks 272 and im getting the kelford 272 installed
now if you compare all the graphs and gain of each cam set you can see that the kelford's are the best cams they give you the power of a bigger 280 duration cam, but dont compramise the spool or idle characteristics of the car.
also look at how much hp was gained from hks 272 to kelford 272 its rediculous

The slicks should just be wider... M/T stands for Mickey Thompson! :) Right RIght?
IF they were wider he may get down another tenth or so...

well the shop said that next racing season or spring 09 lol they are gonna go back at it and slap on a few more bits and they believe they can knock off a few more 10ths i think there goal might be the 8.5-8.4 range which would bring them too or break the fastest evo record i forgot what the fastest evo time was but its in the 8.4-8.3 range
if he gets close to those numbers that would be amazing because his car is only making 7xxhp on a full interior, while the current fastest evo record holder is at 1100-1200hp on a gutted to hell race car......this could get very exciting :-D
