I wonder if anyone has put the NA JZ motor in a Jeep? Might be a good 6cyl replacement. . .

If you're going to go through the effort, you might as well put the turbo version in

LOL I think he means the 2JZ NA motor then converting to turbo. It's cheaper in the long run and passes smog. I haven't heard of any JZ Jeeps but similar styles like Land Cruisers I have seen personally.

NINJA EDIT: I guess some folks in another country pulled it off already :)

I've actually thought about this. The reason not to go turbo is that in rock crawling Jeeps you don't really need all that much power, but good reliable torque you can grind away with slowly all day. You'd have to build a well thought out cooling system for any kind of turbo JZ that's going to spend much time sitting around. I'm really just thinking of a good alternative to the domestic 4L six. The other way is go belt driven centrifugal and you won't have quite as many heat problems as a turbo, but extra HP if you need it for something. I'd be hestiant to build anything that has a real peaky curve, that would not be good for typical Jeep off roading. Now if you're one of those nucking futs Icelandic guys, different story.

That hill climb was nothing, check out my fav videos on my youtube page... same stuff but much more vertical. So bad that some of the inclines actually become declines.
