What does everyone think of flat black cars? Do you like it, or do you think it's a lame trend?

I just flat blacked my fox body. I'll post up some pics when i get home. I like how it looks whether it's a matte black, or just rattle cans.

I did. It took 6 cans of black and one can of blue. The flames are just stickers.

I like flat black on mean looking performance oriented cars; I think the flat black can actually highlight the shadows of dark and light and make it pretty dramatic. [See your original pics.] Now an econo-box, maybe not so much. :judge:

Flat black on the right car can look awesome. I think that Cobra needs either chrome rims or blacked out rims with a polished/chrome lip like mine and it would be perfect.

No, those are Chevy rally stripes. I don't have any Ford parts on the Chevelle. I only have Chevy parts on the Cobra.

As far as I know Chevrolet never put rally stripes on the roof! Thats a Ford thing! So I guess you go both ways even more than you thought.

Well it's kind of hard to put stripes on the hood when I don't have one. It would have looked really dumb if I just put them on the trunk.

Flat black needs to be done with a flattening agent in the clear. Very hard to do it right, so I hear. I'd like to try it sometime.

Who cares? Chevy never did a flat black Chevelle either. It's an aesthetic thing.
And, Ford used 7.5" stripes, while Ron used 7" stripes, so it is very clearly not a Ford thing. :p

Actually, I'll have to measure because I don't remember how wide I made them. It was a long time ago.

Yeah it obviously was a joke but yeah I heard that was how earl schwibe use to do it back in the day. Just rub vaseline on the parts you don't want paint on, paint and wipe off.

(second story ceiling). I don't no why? I guess gravity has just gotten stronger then it was when we were kids.

Hey, I kept hitting it I just couldn't grab it. Besides you have 2-3 more inches of reach than I do and you just barely got it.

Did you have swine flu? Were you quarantined? Or did you mouth off to a customer and get spanked. :smack:
And yes, you should get a computer and hookup at the shop. You can get screaming netbooks now for less than $500 and DSL for less than $20 or so a month.

That would be a great way to get rid of the vibration. The Explorer has a drivetrain vibration that I think is in the trans. I'll see if I can get a Raptor to fix it but I'm not sure my wife will go for it.

Good thing you don't have any important GM parts holding that reciprocating assembly together. :leaving:
