Do you guys think it would be possible to build something like a stripped down 1+1 performance EV at a reasonable (sub 50k) price? Think something design wise like the Caparo T1, only obviously stripped way down.

If the price (and weight) was right I'd love to have a light weight 1+1 electric vehicle. I think it could still get pretty solid range on a charge (maybe 200 miles like the Tesla) and be quick and sporty enough to be entertaining. Thoughts?

Sub $50k. Mmm, probably not at this time. You could theoretically role your own for something close to that by starting with an RCR SL-C and installing the driveline using off the shelf packs, motors and controllers.

Kit about $42K
Driveline, motors, controllers about $12k - - - or so.

How would that be for a project car? :smack:

Interesting. It says that depending on which engine you go with, the curb weight is about 2200lbs. I wonder if you could make an electric version weighing less than 2600lbs? I also wonder if you could make an electric version street legal?

If you buy the Gucci off the shelf Lithium-Ion packs I'm sure you could get down below 2,600. That's what my price was referring to. As for legal, depends on the state. Here in the DPRK, fun itself is almost illegal.
