Alright, now that I have a pretty good photoshop of the 2010 Mustang and pictures of all three cars from similar angles, which car would you most want to own?
A) 2010 Ford Mustang GT (gets 400hp/360ft/lb 5.0 DOHC motor in 2011, approx curb weight of 3450lbs)

B) 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS (422hp/408ft/lb 6.2L V8, approx curb weight of 3860lbs)

C) 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 (425hp/420ft/lb 6.1L V8, approx curb weight of 4140lbs)

This is a tough call for me. If the rumors are true and the Mustang does get a 400hp DOHC 5.0L in 2011 and can keep the curb weight down to where it is now I think that's the car I'd pick. If the curb weight goes up a couple hundred pounds then it really becomes a tossup for me between the Camaro and Mustang. I love the looks of the Challenger, but it's just too damn heavy. For purposes of this poll I'm taking the Mustang for now, but reserve the right to change my mind if the curb weight gets up over 3600+ lbs.

I agree 100% abut the wieght issue. Weight more than anything elsse kills performance and mileage. I still wouldn't rock the stack though. I'd take wither of the other two. I think if both the ls series motors and the new hemie have alot more potential than the modular line of motors.

I agree 100%, the larger displacement motors definitely have more potential. The other thing to consider is that the Stang still has a live axle and the other two have independent rears. This might offset the weight advantage.

My opinion is a little skewed as I am a Ford guy, so that would be my choice. I have never been a fan of the "smiling grill" that Chevy has had. I am sure that the Camaro even if it is heavier would get better gas mileage and performance, that has been my complaint about Fords. Styling is great but the numbers never match up to GM when it comes to HP/TQ numbers and gas mileage.

Camaros and Trans Ams.
Yea, I know that. What I was asking is why??? You have one the best Vehicles around. With a little work it will handle with the best of them.
I deal with F bodies every day. Can't see why you would want one if you got the Vette.

The choices were Camaro Mustang or Challenger. Corvette wasn't on the list, besides, the Corvette isn't a muscle car.

So you're a Ford guy for aesthetic reasons?

Technically the Camaro and Mustang would be Ponycars and only the Challenger would be a true muscle car, but for all intents and purposes they're all muscle cars

Pony Camaro? :wtf:
If a 1st gen big block Camaro ain't a muscle car, I don't know what is. Steel body, solid axle, big engine... sounds like the recipe to me.

It's a complicated subject, but go here (http://www.musclecarclub.com/musclecars/general/musclecars-definition.shtml) for further information.

I guess we're going to have to use a little set theory here.
From Wikipedia:
Muscle car is a term used to refer to a variety of high performance automobiles.[1][2] The term principally refers to American, Australian and to a lesser extent South African models. It generally describes a 2-door rear wheel drive mid-size car with a large, powerful V8 engine, and at an affordable price. Although opinions vary, it is generally accepted that classic muscle cars were produced in the late 1960s and early 1970s.[3][4][5][6] Muscle cars were built for street use and in some cases racing. They are distinct from sports cars and also from GTs, which are two-seat or 2+2 cars intended for high-speed touring/road racing. These are not generally considered muscle cars owing to their small size, relatively high cost and specialty nature. (The two-seater AMC AMX may or may not be an exception: one source queries whether it qualifies as a true muscle car or pony car,[7] but also lists it among vehicles that fit the general interpretation of both categories.[8] AMC was "never shy" about describing the car as "a genuine sports car"[9] as it was relatively inexpensive).[3]
For a definition from the muscle car era, Peter Henshaw's 2004 book Muscle Cars refers the reader to an extract from Road Test magazine’s June 1967 issue: "Just what is a Muscle Car? Exactly what the name implies. It is a product of the American car industry adhering to the hot rodder's philosophy of taking a small car and putting a BIG engine in it [...] The Muscle Car is Charles Atlas kicking sand in the face of the 98 hp (73 kW) weakling." Henshaw adds that the muscle car was designed for straight-line speed, and did not have the "sophisticated chassis", "engineering integrity" or "lithe appearance" of European high-performance cars[10]
Opinions vary as to whether high-performance full-size cars, compacts, and pony cars qualify as muscle cars.[11]
There is an intersection between the set of Pony Cars and Muscle Cars. Clearly, V8 Camaros and Mustangs are properly classed as Muscle Cars.
