My Neon exhaust has always rattled like crazy, ever since I bought it. I figured it was the element in the catalytic converter that had probably cracked/ broken loose.
So I got under there with 4 long self tapping screws. Put them straight into the cat at random spots... voila. No more rattle.
$2.34 + some drilling beats buying a new cat.

When you had me weld up a bracket you bent . . by hand on your driveway, I knew then I was dealing with a special kind of cheap. Or better yet.
This is an actual quote from Adam:
"Ben I got it! I know what's cheaper than Bondo. . . drywall filler."
[NOTE: This was for making a mold, not actual body work.]
I salute your rather intense economic resourcefulness. :hail:

Now what will be interesting to see is if they catch it when you get your car smogged. If they inspect the cat you'll fail.

Fail for what? The screws don't leak. And I don't have to smog my Neon btw, ever.

The screw threads broke free from the element. Rattles again. My Neon will never be a show car I guess.
