CARB's new kill the economy in CA gas tax
The hidden gas tax is on its way. On January 1, 2015, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) will expand its cap-and-trade expansion program, potentially increasing the cost of gas for California drivers by .16 to .76 cents per gallon minimum, according to CARB. This won't only effect your driving but EVERYTHING you buy.
Assyman Harry Perea has authored AB69 to delay it 3 years. (I think it should be delayed forever).
Check out California Drivers Alliance on FB.
You can find your State reps by Googling "find CA state reps" This is what I sent mine. "Support AB69 by Perea. CA residents cannot afford any more increases in gas/diesel taxes. CARB's cap and trade proposal for gas and diesel fuels should be delayed forever. This tax will just send more people and businesses out of CA."

They are not elected so they do what they want. All the elected see is increased revenue to spend on trains to nowhere.

CARB needs to go away to begin with

To get rid of CARB and the EPA you first have to get rid of the Sierra Club.

I'm more than half serious when I say I think our "public" infrastructure should be sold off to responsible entities . . like Chucky Cheese.

And to rub salt into our rectums more they are turning the carpool lanes, which were built with gas tax money, into toll roads so we get to pay for them again and again and again.........
ALL in Sacramento HAVE TO GO.

Are you familar with the ballet initiative, and it looks like it is going to make it onto the ballet, to divide the state up in to six new states. I'm totally in favor. That won't solve everything, but it will destroy the Nazi death grip that many of the current bureaucracies have.

I heard about that. One good thing it wouldn't be that long of a drive to kill them.
The bad part is we might create more Pelosis, Feinsteins,Boxers and Walters. That's real scarey.

I have to say that I can see breaking up the state but into 6 is ridiculous. Silicon valley would be the richest state per capita in the country (This excludes DC which is higher. not a state) and the newly created Central CA would be the poorest. The guy behind it is a Silicon Valley guy.

I do not see how even breaking the state up into 2 would happen. The logistics on it would be mind boggling not to mention the legal ramifications (would be lawsuits up the wazzoo).

I am so for this. NY is the same way. Long Island is looking to become it's own state. It just seems like the current California refuses to run out of other people's money.

BTW, this was a major consideration when we decided to stay in Socal after I left the Navy. Webare constantly second guessing decision. I got a really great job opportunity that I felt I could not pass up, but if the market doesn't go where we think it's going we will not stay. The cost are just too high for every aspect of life.

The interesting thing is that if it goes to the ballot and is voted up by the general public, we are talking about as near as we can get, the direct voice of the public. Since we are not talking about the violation of unalienable rights, but specifically of freedom of the people to form their governance, obstructing it would be a crystal clear example of the government obstructing the public.
Who started it, who would be richest and who would be poorest are irrelevant (and wouldn't change the relative positions anyway).
NY, Chicago, etc., are expensive for typical metropolitan reasons. California is expensive almost across the board unless you just go deep into the hinterlands. I make decent, not great money, and after taking care of responsibilities and obligations, there ain't shit left. I have no idea how people how make less and have a couple kids manage. The answer is they don't really. They have huge debts, dick for retirement investments/saving.
I talked to a rep flying back from Nashville once who lived and worked out of Austin. We talked about relative incomes and costs and I about shit my pants on the plane. If it weren't for having a job I love, and family connections, etc., I wouldn't be here. I actually quite like a lot about CA, but the state government is so horrifically bad it's stupefying.

Sarah and I believe that we are taking a $80k per year hit by staying in California. One of my best friends has literally the exact same resume as me. He gets paid $15k more for a position of less responsibility. He also pays no state tax which I credit roughly $16k. He also pays half for housing than I do we will call that $15k. Drop another $20k because everything from food to gas is more expensive. Now this doesn't account for Sarah's pay or lack there of. She is a school counselor. CA isn't really hiring counselora anytime soon. All her classmates that found employment move out of state to do so. Finally jobs are fleeing CA. So thing are not going to get any better. We probably have another year or two and then we are out.

I don't see California as all that expansive, I make 25-40% more in LA then I would in any other state. The only real monthly expense I have is my commute. Could I live in another state for less? for sure but the pay cut would be steep and be a wash in the end.
I love living in California! and I'm willing to pay the very little bit extra I do so I can have access to all that it provides.
Remember I do live in Riverside where the cost of living is much lower then LA/SF/SD

Depends on job. Project/program managers can make as much or even more elsewhere, and costs of living (in nice areas) can be as much as a third to half of what they are in vaguely equivalent CA areas.
Not ALL of this is because of the CA government of course, but some of it is.

I cannot comprehend how anyone can say that CA is not that expensive. First, it has the highest state tax in every category except property tax (it's close there too though). The excessive fuel cost raise the price of every consumable item we use.
As an Engineering Manager I almost moved to Dallas for the same position on a different firm. They wanted for me to move in November while Sarah was pregnant, thus it was a non-starter. I would be making $15K more in salary and saving ~$15K in income tax. That's $30K before I even start into my housing or day to day expenses. I feel like I make pretty good money now, but it just doesn't go far here. I loose about 40% of my pay to medicare, federal tax, SS, state tax.......
I am was seriously considering Texas, Louisiana, and Georgia. I was hesitant to move to Arizona because I just don't think it is having the growth there is elsewhere.
I can't complain too much though. The Marine LNG market as a power source is new and I was able to get the Marine Engineering Manager position for the Current Market leader.
Now if I could just get these things out of here on time and one budget:suicide:.
P.S. the CA school system are broke. That is a huge hit for this family. My wife has a Masters from USD with just under a 4.0 GPA and is struggling to find employment. California has not recovered from the housing bubble crash.

LEO pay is same or higher in NV and AZ and only slightly lower in other states. I'm applying in other states now, CA is fucking garbage. If there's something here I want i'll drive or ship it.

While I'd personally privatize LEO into firms that are contracted by cities, or at least do away with ALL government defined benefit pensions, they do exist and you have to consider that. CA's are seriously fucking insane. It's part of the problem we have as ever larger amounts of taxes do nothing but pay for obligations made in the past to people who aren't even doing anything (and many cases did little worthwhile to begin with.) Those are my gentle thoughts. :lmfao:

I agree, completely. The people who are applying, and working, are there simply for the listed reasons. Privatizing agencies with higher standard would make the job less desirable for people not motivated for the actual work. It disgusts me to see fat fucking overweight piece of shit officers that hang out at the local 7/11 for hours.
