I dont understand how having perpendicular control arms wouldnt cause the suspension to bind.

its just like a 4 link at the point.

Four link links 4 bars facing forward. A 5 link usually has ONE from ONE side that allows it to drop down.

This has two from each side, and four in the front. It looks like as it drops it would bind

It's like a mix of an IRS, 4 Link and a Watts link. Intriguing.

Really it's an 8 link

Do you know what I mean about it binding though? As neg camber increases and the side arms drop down, the front links would try to twist in.

Assuming there's actually that much travel. yes.

I'm not entirely sure what you're looking at. This is a Guldstrand 5 link, and I thought the HS was considered one of the links.

No, thats one of the benefits of the GS link, the c-clips are no longer an integral part of the suspension. Ha. Those pics show the same setup, two side links and two front links on each side.

I am assuming that the heim joints would have enough movement in them that they would not bind with the amount of travel a car has.

If you guys want to start a pool and buy me one, I'll test the shit out of it.

That makes sense, its the only way I could see it working.

Shit is so damn expensive even if we all put in $20, youd still be several thousand short. Ha

IMO its not worth the cost. Take the Marck route, buy some rod and rod ends from speedway motors. Cut your trailing arms, weld on some flanges, and link it yourself.

Why not? Place the flanges so that the arms sit equal length apart, and are equally as long as each other. Remove engineering from the equation.

I'm not going to allocate time for a project like that. I have no problem allocating a few g for a suspension like that.

Good point, sometimes its best to do what you do well, and just pay someone else to do what they do well.

You just stated the entire underlying premise of market economics. Specialization. Want to live in a society where everyone does all their own shit, go be a hunter gatherer. The DIY stuff is for fun, entertainment, maybe practical skills and knowledge building, but most of the time it is not economically efficient when you account for all factors.

Very true. Dear economy, sorry. Hahaha

It is true though, I want an indoor spa in my future home, thats my one thing. And although I could do it, I prob wouldnt. Id be better off working a little OT and paying for it to be done professionally.

I want my walls to be poured concrete fortified with welded rebar.

It wouldnt be terribly difficult, you would just need extra plywood for the inside after you run the electrical

While Guy probably has something more "bunker-like" in mind, it's not uncommon to build with concrete. They're called Insulating Concrete Forms (ICF) and cost a bit more, but not massively more than regular stick building. In addition to being more energy efficient (as insulated structures), they are also much more hypoallergenic.

The welded rebar grid that would be placed in the walls is what is going to take some time and $$$
