Holy shit it's sick! it's basically a ZO6 with the z07 package in a Camaro body. This will be faster than a GTR on a road course.

Like the color package too. But what about weight with all the trim?

They dropped 300lbs over the zl1. Which means it's ~150lbs lighter than a 1LE. A/C and stereo are optional deletes. This is what I always wanted them to do with the vette.

I love it. I'm hearing a lot of people ask why use such a "big motor" when you can get the same power out of a much "smaller" 3L but off the top of my head I can think of any other motor that makes over 500 hp with a weight under 440 pounds

The ZO6, dry sump and all, really is a strongly endurance race oriented motor by design.

Big V8s and Turbo 3Ls are different animals, not to mention the V8 has more room to make more power. Put 21lbs of boost on a V8 and see what happens.

That's a lot of boost for a V8.

nah... The ls7 is pretty high compression though for much boost. I'm not saying to go out and lower the compression though. I would toss a nasty cam, heads, headers, intake, tune it and get like 550 to the wheels. That would be awesome.

Thats because equivalent boost would be thrice the volume of air on a big V8. Id go with an LS3 Corvette and Procharge it, steady 91 octane 850 streetable hp all day long.

Im leaving it at that, if anyone in here is about to make the argument that V8s shouldnt be boosted, or that smaller engines are better for some retarded ricer logic, see my avatar and suck a dick.

no replacement for displacement

Well, yeah there is actually if peak power is the goal at least. It's about fuel and air, period. Whether it gets pushed in by the atmosphere or pushed in by a compressor of some sort is sort of incidental.

Now, for making plenty of power efficiently, a larger displacement high compression engine is a pretty optimal intersection from a thermodynamic and system complexity POV. In this regard, if we include cost of manufacturing and all of the design that goes into that aspect of process, the newest LT1 is arguably the greatest engine ever made.

I wish there was more of an aftermarket for the LT1. Drill and tap kit for the lifter valley to hold the distributorless ignition and the LT1 FI setup would have gone nicely atop the thousands of hot rod SBCs out there.

The zo6 with the z07 package is about three seconds faster than the GTR at a track like AAA or the big willow track. It's also faster than the ZR1. ZR1 is too nose heavy and doesn't turn Iike the 6. The ZL1 is only about three seconds slower than the GTR at a little more technical track like indie motors ports park in Tucson. So if you drop 300lbs, put on almost race car rubber, and race car brakes the z28 will be competitive with a GTR on the road course.

That's actually very impressive!

Thats crazy, Camaros didnt used to be good handling cars. Theyve come a long way

Neither was the mustang but the new 5.0s can out turn an M3 apparently... Which is also fairly impressive.

The ls1 camaros handled very well. 3 linked from the factory.

From what I've heard/read, from 2nd Gen forward, RELATIVE TO TIME AND PRICE, with moderate amounts of effort, they could be made to do quite well.

I'd still like a 2nd Gen F-Body someday.

The new camaros handled like shit until the ZL1 came out who then lead to the 1LE package. The 1LE is a must. The car is worthless without it, with it it's significantly faster and easier to drive than a BOSS. I bought a GT with all the performance options because of the BOSS, but I would have waited for the Z28 had I known it was coming.

They already had a ZL1 Camaro right? I saw this one in Jan in Vegas

The ZL1 is to the ZR1 what the Z28 will be to the Z06. basically do you want a hammer or a chisel.
