So Chevy decides to do a flying start and let it rip with the ZR1. Result? 7:26 in a ZR1 as it will be sold to the customer.

additionally, the ZR-1 used just a dev. engineer as a driver, nissan used a pro in the GT-R's lap. That GT-R lap just doesn't quite have the weight it once did.

True nuff, but if it's who I think it is, he's a regional SCCA Champion. Not professional, but a VERY above average driver. There was an article in a one of the mags about (the guy I'm thinking of) several months ago. He started racing when he was like 35 . . . might have missed his calling. :judge:

That's awesome. We've gotta get those boys over here. Since we cover a lot of events (Fabulous Fords, etc.), maybe they'd be interested for their Magazine.

Just so you guys know, this time was with a GM engineer behind the wheel. The 7:43 for the Z06 was with Hans Magnusun (think c6r mutliple lemans wins) behind the wheel. This car will be bellow 7:20.

It did sound like he was short shifting a lot of the time. A full-tilt pro driver should be able to "Ring" out more time. I'm curious to see what the V-Spec will do.

Well, they say the v-spec has busted out a 7:25 already. The problem is that without any type of sanctioning body it's imposible to know what's running. Nissan will put up some fast number, but what they are running isn't representative of what they are selling.

Do you feel confident that GM is putting up what they're selling?

I don't know. Gm has been taking the high moral road recently though. When I was in College we had a GM test engineer bring down a C5 from the hot weather testing site in maricopa county. He stated that that particular car had the timing advanced and they were able to see 182 MPH at their high speed test course. Now the ZR-1 lap was billed as an official lap on a car that was as is "off teh showroom floor".
