View Full Version : What you think about these rotors?

The car's been sitting a few days but I noticed a ring of hot spots in the center of the rotor. Not sure what caused it. Have Hawk hps street pads on there and braking feels solid. I wonder if the rotor has a high spot in the center. I have yet to remove it to check it out. What do you guys say, run it as it at the track with race pads or just replace with cheapy blanks for the track? Currently those are Raybesto heavy duty rotors. I want to compete in a street class series so Im a bit budget minded so I need rotors that will either last or cheap enough to toss and replace. Planning to race at Willow Springs on Dec 8.

My new rotors did that same thing when I ran Hawk HPS pads. They heat marks eventually went away. I'm now running Stoptech pads and I like them a lot but I haven't run them on a big track yet, just Adams and autocross events.

Cool, good to know. Ill probably drive the car tomorrow and see if some hard stops will take the marks away. Ill probably be running my hawk hp plus pads at the track. Then im looking at maybe upgrading to the blue or ht-10 compound since im on street tires. Ive also looked at Centric power alloy high carbon rotors. Theyre cheap and I wonder if maybe they cam handle track days a lil better. The raybestos did good on the last track day.

It took a while for the marks to go away on mine so I don't think just a few hard braking tests will make them go away.

Ill probably throw the HP plus pads on their until the track day. Its an aggressive pad so maybe after a few days itll get them off.
