Is that a 200ci Ford I6? What's done to the engine?

Car came with a 200, this is a 250 with coated pistons, chevy rods, an australian aftermarket aluminum cylinder head and intake manifold, turbo cut cam, custom dampener, and its setup for an HEI.

I dont know the specifics really Ill get more info, but he has a ton of money into the engine, FI and turbo. He spares no expense with this car as you can tell from looking underneath it.

If you think about it, aside from the fact that a 289 would have been cheaper, 39 cubic inches is significant but not a huge difference. And Id take a turbo 250 over a 289 any day.

...?

How many turbo Ford I6s are there? I'm going with one at the moment.

Why?

You would rather have 39 cubic inches over a turbo? Let me ask you, why?

Plenty of 11 second 289's the dont require a ton of work.

The 200 was, but my friend says the 250s with the aussie heads are making decent power. So we shall see. Plus its hard to beat 7 mains stability

Just speaking from experience. Dick builds a few a month. And constantly says how horrendous they are.

Ya, well I doubt he's building any with $1500 australian heads. And I would agree, the 200 head with the built in intake flows like a metro engine. But that aussie head looks nice, big runners too. I dont see how it wouldnt make power... after all a shortblock is just a shortblock right? Shortblocks dont make power, heads do. (Not literally)

Not saying anything about power, could make 500rwhp for all i know. But doesnt change the issues of the engine. And don't count Dick or (Shawn) out, they have been there a LONG time.

I wanna do a 2JZ in an American car of some sort, just for the piss off factor. Maybe the late 70s Trans Am like Smokey and the Bandit with the Thunder Chicken on it.

I think a turbo I6 would have more of an awe factor than just a V8 swap that everyone does. Plus I love what a turbo can do for you with a small motor.

What are the issues with the engine??

Poor oiling of the rods and main journals, head gasket issues, are just the ones I remember off the top of my head. I have to see him tomorrow so i'll ask.

Oh ya, no one made a high volume oil pan for this motor so he had his modified.

Oh no, it's no secret I have love for the LSx and not ford motors.

Also for the fab work required i'd much rather have 8 or even 10 cylinders

Me too, but this was his HS car and it came with the 200. Hes always saying Im not giving up on the 6, so I think its sentimental and he wants to prove that the 6 can haul ass and be a stout motor.

That's a totally different premise. That I can get on board with.
