So I dropped my $1500 heads off at the machine shop today, and the guy looks at me like we're all done. I ask him "Are you going to give me a work order" He says "No, just going to hang a tag on them." So I asked nicely if I could get a work order. Is it just me, would anyone else leave expensive car parts with a machine shop without any paper work?

I can see it now, "Are my cylinder heads done?" "What cylinder heads?" You wouldn't even be able to sue them without any sort of paper work, or any witness. Am I just paranoid?

No way. If you don't know the shop on GOOD terms, don't leave expensive stuff there. In a legal contest its their word against yours. Basically, until you know a place well, everything should be spelled out pretty clearly, like when and how much for what. Frankly, they're unprofessional for not giving you a work order with estimate. The item should be specified and if it were me I'd be casting/serial numbers on the WO.

Well you didn't make me feel paranoid but you did manage to make me even more nervous! :barf: No, I'm sure it will be fine. I do have the work order, plus it seems like they've been there for a while.

Besides, if they did try to screw with me I'd just go in there with a bat and ask nicely for my heads back. :D

Ahahaha. I'd just want to get my heads back, not make the guy piss himself. That'd be a scary sight, 6' 2 Glenn rollin up in the flat black C2 walking out with a batt. :leaving: :surrender:

I'm sure it will be fine. I went there today to measure the depth of the water jacket for some anodes, and the heads were still there. :D
