So, I'm working on mom's Satanic Durango in (hopeful) preparation of being able to sell it and recover a little money. Put on the new A/C compressor and tensioner pulley. Took it for a little test drive, it made a little knocking sound, then crack bang. Turns the diff case grenaded. The gears look ok, the bearing might be ok, but the case is very not ok.
Paul, or anyone else, what's the book time on changing the front diff on a 98 Durango? I'll also have to look up some prices on what a new case would cost.

No. I'm going to call LKQ Corp. and see what they'd give for it. It has tons of BRAND NEW shit on, the engine and trans is only like 70k, yet as a running system . . mmm.

Yank it, the axles, and the front drive shaft. Sell it as a 2wd model. But test it first, make sure its not an open TC

I would call LKQ and ask how much they want for a new diff. They sell transmissions for dodges at around $450, a diff can't be much more.
