SO i'/ve been towing with the idea of doing a motor swap for my truck. I want to put a diesel in it.

In CA it looks like a Heavy Duty truck is anything over 14,000 GVW and i've found a few 12,000 GVW isuzu box trucks so that motor should be ok and They do have adapter kits so im not to worried about trans.

The other option that i see is a trooper motor from Japan, This is the one i'm not 100% sure about i've seen other (non ca) people do this swap. But i'm not sure CA is allows this.

Any help is useful.

As I recall it's a no go to put diesel into any make/model class different than your vehicle. It's a weird though. For example, until there were Wranglers with diesels in them in CA (during the Daimler era) you could not legall swap in a diesel into a wrangler. The laws are kind of vague and very much open to the interpretation of the referee and they tend to be conservative. The best way to proceed if you are serious, and to avoid problems is to find THE referree at THE station you're going to go to and ask him as many detailed questions as possible about what it is you want to do. Basically develop a relationship. Keep your shit clean. Then go to THAT ref. this is the best way to get through.
