Well Gentlemen we have a grudge match. One BaddassC6 versus a Subaru WRX wagon that is pretty heavily modded. Owner claims it puts down 550 awhp. He is one of my sonar techs. I have been breaking his balls over the last two years to get his car on the track. It has never happened. Suddenly (after several drinks) he's runs 10.9, is a button willow expert, and want's some of this. We are going to run when we get back from deployment in September. We have a $500 bet and I have several side bets with other members of the wardroom. I told him he could run any gas or tire he wanted. I will be on fresh hoosiers and pump gas. Maybe we can get a good motormen turnout if we plan ahead of time.

It's with Speedventures on the 22nd of September. They usually run 13CCW or 13 CW. I'm hoping for CCW to negate a little bit of the AWD advantage in the buttonhook.

Even if his car has 550 peak awdHp I doubt he is as good as a driver as your are. Your vett is much lighter and you should have way better low end grunt and power under the curve. And I also doubt his car will be able to make 550 for more then a few laps before everything starts to overheat.

I will have a few weeks to get together. I will order the parts now to have them waiting when I get back. This fool is tripping. He has done some major modifications and has not been to the track. The car is not sorted out at all.

Just last night my brother who bought a 2007 350Z a month or so ago went on a cruise with an old buddy of his and his friend told him he could keep up with a C5 from a roll and maybe even take a new M3. Not sure about the M3 (I do doubt it though) but I am pretty sure a more powerful, lighter weight Vette would rape his stock Z (300hp/265tq, 3350lbs)

I will definitely be there. I am registering and will get the car ready. I have been itching to take the vette out anyways. I have planned to hit the 2013 NASA TTU session hard and want to make it to as many events as I can. I have had to divert a bunch of funds to a ring and a wedding, but I should have enough to playbill. I am looking to have the brakes done and a cage prior to the season opener. I expect to drop a bunch of weight by ditching the AC, radio, insulation, factory seats. If I can run the car consistently I'm happy. 2014 I will go with a full aero package and z06/zr1 fenders to support wider tires. 2014 is the go year. 2013 will be a year to get everything sorted out.

Stock 350Zs aren't what I would call very fast. I have demolished a few from rolls and stuff. C5s have way more potential than a 350z and the M3, psssh he would be sad if he ran into the new V8 one I think :sm_laughing:

Ok but back to the '550awhp' subie. If he hasn't had that thing at the track yet I hope he knows that his stock trans isn't up to that kind of punishment. At fontana I was able to keep a Evo with close to 600awhp in my sights most of the way until he pulled off and ran out of gas. If I can get permission from the old lady I will go up there too. I haven't been to willow springs in a minute. By then hopefully I will have my suspension all dialed in with some Powell Race Shop parts.

lol. 550 awhp in that Subie is a lot for road course use. I hope his trans is built to the hilt. It's one thing to rip on it here and there on the street, it's another thing to do laps, in the desert, when it's 100*F +. Sounds like your vette has lots of mods to support teh xtra HP, cool.
