"We'll beat any advertised price or your mattress is freeeeee!"
OK, we'll is a compound word, meaning we will. Not we have, but we will. So they're mattress prices aren't necessarily lower already, but they WILL beat the lowest ADVERTISED price, presumably by at least a penny. Okay, fine.
Now let's look at the second clause. OR, your mattress is free. Or being the key word here. So they have given themselves the option of either beating a lower price, or giving the item away for free. Why would they ever, EVER, give the mattress away for free? When all they simply have to do is undercut the lower price by one cent. It's stupid and it pisses me off. I will never shop at Sit N Sleep simply because this commercial is so f*cuking retarded.
There is this Legal Options commercial where there are these two black guys on a basketball court. One of the guys walks up with a limp, the other asks him "What's up with yo game?" To which he replies "No game today, I blew my knee out at work." Then he asks "What you do about it?" ...What you do about it? This is what he says, it's embarrassing. What is the world coming to? This is now acceptable grammar for a tv commercial, are you kidding me?! "What you do about it?!" I want to punch the guy in the face. What ARE you going to do about it? Seriously!:nutkick:
Sorry, needed to vent.

1) caveat emptor
2) You're being culturally insensitive. :nutkick:
What commercials piss me off? So glad you asked. How about the ones that exploit children, drawing parallels to "global climate change" and a ticking time bomb or freight train out of control. That gets the official "are you kidding me" from me. I immediately go do doughnuts every time I see it. Ok, no I don't, but that is how I feel.
(Note the subtle change in political language in the last couple years, ever so carefully away from global warming to climate change; that fuc*ing narrows it down.)

Haha, I do! I don't really care about gays either way, but from an objective standpoint I see no reason to ban gay marriage or call it something other than marriage.
In the words of Dave Chapelle "Gay sex is gross, I'm sorry, but I find it to be gross! ...Except between two women." :D

How about the new milk commercials, "White Gold." I'm still not sure about them...I laughed the first few times. And I know the top part of his guitar is where he's supposed to drink out of, but it totally looks like it could be a sex toy.

anything by the truth.org annoys me because they skew statistics to prove their point.

oh my god... you don't drink milk either? i would rather drink something from a cow's udder that has been pasteurized rather than water from a tap that was delivered to me by 100-year-old pipes filled with rust and mold.

Almost all of the more than 40 water treatment additives that may be used at the water plant are toxic to humans in their concentrated form, e.g., chlorine gas used for disinfection. Questions sometimes arise regarding the toxicity, purity, and risk to humans from adding fluoride additives to drinking water.

They're fine. The amounts are microscopic. In fact many of the things necessary for proper biological function will kill you in their concentrated forms or if your body goes out of balance (sodium, potassium, Vitamin A, etc.) But the microbes will kill you dead as hell. Fortunately, they don't dig swimming in even minutely chlorinated water, which the human GI tract handles fine.

Get used to it. It's the dumbing down of America. If the students don't want to learn and the teachers aren't allowed to dicipline, then all we can do is watch illiterate students graduate and make commercials that are grammatically incorrect. Thank the liberals and the teachers union, who make it almost impossible to fire incompetent teachers. Look at the Washington D.C. schools. The highest paid teachers and the students have about a 50% drop-out rate. :suicide:

Yes, but with all the self esteem we have, we're very well positioned to compete in an increasingly competitive global marketplace. Have I recently mentioned the mountains of liabilities we have no idea how we're going to pay for? Having an uncritical population also allows the government to simply ignore the facts and sell the public snake oil on a daily basis.
