Following the 2 is pretty straight forward, leading to the 138 and then on to the 15, pretty tough to get lost unless you do it on purpose.
:jester:
I hate the part down 138, it's just more freeway. Lone Pine Canyon is much more fun but you really need to mind your P's&Q's getting to it as you have to travel ever so briefly through a residential neighborhood.
Check it out on the map, dead straight and fairly steep grade to a 90° left at the bottom, makes for some fun. Leads right down to 138 with gas and food close at hand.
Like it matters, I usually turn around and run back 2 anyway, Glendale is closer to home than Ontario.

No need for approval or permission around here. Whoever rolls in however many numbers is just the way it goes. Though of course I personally like it all large and mixed up for ACH. Bring it with the Skittles and S2ks, SWC will pony up the Miatas . and we usually get a good smattering of just about everything else.

T.J. Maxx has the same address as Von’s: Plaza De La Canada, 663 Foothill Blvd. La Canada, CA 91011 If you zoom-in a little on the map you’ll see a parking lot that’s practically empty behind T.J. Maxx. If you zoom-in a lot (street view) you can follow the road right to it. In my opinion this works much better for our purposes. These are all of the people who met there before.

That's called "Islip Saddle" and there is indeed a large parking lot on the north side and a wide turn out on the south side however the place we all stopped before was Snowcrest ski area. Islip Saddle is nice but there is NO SHADE on that bit of the roadway, there are restrooms and tables however.
Just some info, if you feel the need to buy an Adventure Pass, don't bother as they are NOT required for our group since we are just 'passing through' and are not 'recreating' in the forest. We are entitled to stop and take photographs, use the facilities and such as long as we don't all park and wander off into the mountains.
Adventure Passes and their citations are a huge scam anyway but that is another thread for another time.

What's wrong with it?
It was having a SEVERE stumbling and halting problem. It seems to have been a constellation of issues, the single largest was probably a tank of really bad gas compounded by my infrequent driving once it started. Also the MAF was whack, an O2 going a little dodgy, the fuel filter/reg was probably a little crusty and so mostly. Mostly fuel system related. It still hesitates at WOT which *may* be fuel pump related, the only thing I haven't replaced in the fuel system really. Also, I managed break my clutch pedal connecting rod. That was replaced with the help of kdracer73, but we weren't able to bleed the clutch MC all the way I think. So sometimes the clutch engages fine, but sometimes not so fine. I think I might pay a visit to ls1z28 this Saturday to take another crack at bleeding the Clutch MC.
All in all it's actually running pretty stout, but given how it was I wouldn't call it reliable and want to make sure that one of the regulars can round up the group for heading out in the event I crap out on the way. I'd really like to go on this in the Vette. I might change my mind and just go with Chuckles again, he's a good cruise buddy.
As for the Vette, the next step I really need to take is to revise the headers and exhaust and have a full retune to take advantage of the new exhaust and address the the warm start idle hunting (always a problem). But altogether that's about $2,500 to do nicely as I'd like (custom hybrid tri-y/lt headers, etc.) so it'll have to wait. On the upside, I might have as much as 30WHP or more on the table given how much crazy back pressure I have with the stock manifolds and cats.

If you want to swing by my house at 10:30, we can roll together.
Ron was so excited he's been there since today. I'm so excited I'm gonna wash my Vette, it's that serious.

Well, no Vette. everything was great, drove all the way to Temecula and back on Ortega, washed it, tanked up, cleaned it up a little more then started it again and it started doing the major shorting stumbling thing again. Fuck me! So we'll either take the Hello Kitty Miata or the Protege.

My guess is fuel pump, but I'm not positive.
Looks like Aaron and I will be rocking the Hello Kitty Miata.

Had a blast. Too bad for Jerry though. On a lighter note Motochi is faster in his Escape than Sean was in his Cobra.:sm_laughing::rolling:

I had a boss/mentor who was so harsh he said ALL accidents were human failures at some level because of failure to observe, analyze, and correct.

I wouldn't call it an accident as much as I'd call it shit happens. I couldn't go right since I already was to the right and I didn't want to fly over the double yellows. So I hoped the Vette would clear it and well it didn't, shit happens I made my choice and stuck with it.

I was just messing with you, it was definitely just bad luck :(
As long as you're up and running for Laguna Seca it doesn't matter :)

Stupid heat seeking rocks.Jerry,
I feel bad that a rock ended your day before it was over. We were lockstep the whole way having a great time, then I looked in my side mirror and… nothing. I couldn’t see anyone so I slowed way down, gave it a corner then stopped on the road. Pretty soon a few cars I recognized showed up so we continued. I thought that maybe you’d turned out to change the order but I never thought of a large rock severing your oil-cooler line. I don’t feel as badly about your car getting damaged as I do about leaving you stranded; sorry man. I hope AAA got to you before too long.

He was hardly 'stranded' as my group came upon him shortly afterwards and at least consoled him a touch while pushing his injured steed to the roadside and cleaning up the spilled blood, err I mean we shoved his ride off the road and sopped up some oil. As I came back from Wrightwood (yeah, I really just don't like Fuddruckers) I passed him and four or five other cars patiently waiting where we left them. I stopped at Newcombs to put my top up and stretch my legs and saw a guy in a flatbed tooling up the road with a grin that could only mean he was making 'Sunday on the mountain money'...
Hope you got home okay.

It's all good man don't worry about it. You didn't leave me stranded, no one did infact. I had a great time it sucks for the car and my wallet but oh well got to get her ready for laguna seca. The gto did great up there I was impressed by the driving and how it just cruzed up there. And Gil, Christian, Brandon, Jerry B, Jamie and Ron for sitting in the dirt with me for almost 2 hours bsing and watching my tow hook actually get used :sm_laughing:

Hey, I think you and I were following each other for a good ways, I was in the silver 04 GTO. I didn't have a chance to ask you, but what all do you have done to your cobra? Seemed like you had no problem getting through the twisties.
I had a great time, aside from a few morons holding up traffic, we were moving at a fairly quick speed.

Excellent drive, except for the unforunate rock grenading causing the James Bond-esque smoke screen. Hope you get the Vette all fixed up before Laguna Seca! :drive:
I'm glad the chinese tires on the C63 were able to keep up in the corners for the most part, though they were a bit understeerish on initial turn in. Definitely getting the Pilot Super Sports for the C32!
So what's up for next month, can we get some Malibu action?
Chuck

Next month will be a Nicks meet in Fullerton usually the second Saturday. We may be able to get a cruise in before though.
