Whats up guys. This is just a small build thread on my wagon. Its built for grip driving right now, but I still get it sideways awd style every now and then also.
The day I bought her Oct. 2010

My first mod was deleting the roof rails

Then came drop springs, catless downpipe, straight pipe exhaust and the tune

Learning to get it sideways

http://i535.photobucket.com/albums/ee356/tnplowboy07/gym3.jpg
Then came seats and harnesses that turned out to be a bad idea because they weren't comfy and were kinda loose feeling. Not quality stuff :bang:
http://i535.photobucket.com/albums/ee356/tnplowboy07/2011-10-02_13-56-12_489.jpg
Than came the ricer shit, lime green accents
http://i535.photobucket.com/albums/ee356/tnplowboy07/greenheadlights.jpg
http://i535.photobucket.com/albums/ee356/tnplowboy07/greenwheels.jpg
Then I went on deployment, and now that I'm back I've thrown in a new Parts shop max shift knob
http://i535.photobucket.com/albums/ee356/tnplowboy07/shifter001.jpg
And Alt 362 17x8 rims with Hoosier R5 road race slicks.
http://i535.photobucket.com/albums/ee356/tnplowboy07/Newpicsfromcali030.jpg
Plus I went back to stock seats. (no pics)
And thats were the car is now. Coming up is a welded rear diff, its a VLSD right now that works ok. Also getting a hydro handbrake and a few other things. Well thanks for look guys.

I love wagons and hatch backs. I'll never understand why they aren't more popular?

Why weld the diff and install a hydraulic hand brake? Shifting to drifting?

Like Carlos asked, why weld the rear carrier? Have you ever driven a car on the street with a spool? They're terrible. Unless you plan on driving it in the dirt only I would just keep the LSD.

I should have said I was welding a SPARE carrier. That was my oops. I'm welding it for the gymkhana and drift events around SD, and just to throw in and have some fun occasionally. The Hydro ebrake is just something I've always wanted and it doesn't affect day to day driving so its all good. I have driven cars with welded diffs daily before. I had a 78 F-150 with a welded a 9" rear end, and some of other cars. Way fun lol.

Parking between two cars in parking lots is always fun with a spool. Especially if the rear suspension is soft. Not only does it take a 15 point turn entry but once your in one side of the car is about 1 foot higher than the other, lol.

Yeah with how far lsd's have come there isnt much need for a full spool in anything but a trailer only drag car

Even my 4x4 tail rig doesnt have a spool. A good lsd for the street is fine for most track days. If you need more then a locker/air locker/e-locker would be my route.

I wouldn't think that installing a weld diff would be a easy install to do just for a weekend by gymkhana event. That has to be a five hour job. When I was in ct I installed a fp green turbo cai and pulley kit on a arc with great results. I would invest in the motor before the parking brake or diff. Just my .02:drink::drink::drink:

I must confess, I'm a little confused. I thought the point of those AWD rally cars was that their mechanical and computer systems continuously sorted out optimal traction, sending power to where it would be most effective.
Question: Is there any such thing as manually activated electronic locking diff for these cars, like other 4x4 trucks? Just curious on the tech side.

The problem with a selectable locker in a car is that when it's not locked it a one tire fryer. With a 4x4 that isn't a problem but not so with a performance car. So it would be great for drifting but nothing else.

Geoffrey chandle was the owner of drift50.com before he had a kid and closed the site, they have a lsd/air locker setup in the drift car, when unlocked it worked like a regular lsd, when locked it was like a spool, iirc it was a semi custom setup he fucked with for a year to get right.

I've never seen one that acks as a limited slip. Do you know what make it was? My ARB air locker is just open when not locked.
