As some of you know i have a pretty bitchen parts hookup between my builder, machinist and friends. The most in particular is Ed's auto parts in covina, been in business for 46 years, my father went to grade school with the brothers who own and run it, i grew up there. Many unobtainable parts are an hour wait away compared to weeks for other parts places, they are all gear heads at heart. Well unfortunately there are not open sundays so when i do work for people i am forced to run to autozone and be butt raped for parts. However this weekend seemed like it was something simple that should have been quickly taken care of.

I was simply looking for some shock bushings, after the "computer" coming up empty i asked if they even knew what the bushings looked like and if he could just pull some boxes for me to look at. He stared blankly at me and responded "this isnt Ed's auto parts, we dont know what we have in stock, they would be able to help you better than us
:smack:

Find a good parts store and many automotive headaches go away, it made me chuckle and Eddy got a HUGE kick out of it, and figured i'd share since the store manager pretty much admitted to being hugely incompitent

That's what's wrong with companies these days, they rely entirely on what's on a computer screen. I'm trying to find a new water pump for my liquid to air intercooler, and everyone has a dumb look on their face when I try and explain to them what I need.

The auto parts company down the street has a great customer service record (J&C Auto Supply in Whittier) the auto part selling corporation across town, not so much.

Turns out J&C pays their employees for their knowledge and dedication, VatoZone will pay any schlub off the street a bit over minimum to read a screen and match numbers.

Corporations may be considered a 'person' but frankly that guy is usually a fucking asshole.

You know, after a minute of thinking about it, the AutoZone about six and a half miles from me is a hub, it would seem that a fair percentage of the guys there know what they're looking for, however since this store sends parts to the rest I imagine they need to.

My buddy worked at that particular vatozone for 3 years, during that time he'd still buy parts from Ed's :jester: normally he will get the price pretty damn close to rock auto without the shipping cost
