Asking for a friend.

Does this look like a decent deal? Any gotchas or caveats?

If the car was stock the price is just a touch high given the miles. The light bar, rims, tires, body kit and paint work were not cheap though. It looks like a nice car, I'd probably offer him 11 and hope to get out between 11.5 and 12. Who is buying this car, anyone I know?

I forgot to mention, if the potential buyer is looking for a drag car, this wouldn't be it. A 99 Cobra Vert. is probably a mid 13 second car at best and it's not easy to squeeze a lot more power out with boltons. It would make a fun driver though and a pair of 4:30 gears would really wake it up.

This would be more fun (http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/1120879273.html) if he can afford it

Holy crap good stuff is getting cheap.

I think this would be way high up in the price range for him, but plausible. Though it's more brutal than what he's probably looking for. He bought and sold a nice C3 in short order recently. He realized that he wants four seats . . . someting sporty to have some fun in, but absolute performance is not the primary goal. I'll give him the link tomorrow. It's Cafe Racer.

Do you know how he decided on the one you originally posted? I'm just curious what his search criteria is?

The mustang dosn have 4 seats, but to call it a 4 seater would be a stretch unless you have midgets in the back seat.

Children.

Sean, I think his criteria are along these lines:
- $13K +- a little
- 4 seater or at least 2+2
- convertible slight preference
- somewhat sport/muscle
- doesn't require a lot of regular attention

Some convertible version of a Mustang GT/Cobra seems appropriate.

I would say his best options would be a GTO (http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/searchresults.jsp?num_records=25&search_lang=en&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&search_type=both&distance=300&address=92807&marketZipError=false&style_flag=1&make=PONT&model=GTO&make2=PONT&model2=GTO&make3=&start_year=1999&end_year=2010&min_price=&max_price=14000&seller_type=b&transmission=&engine=8+Cylinder&drive=&doors=&fuel=&max_mileage=&color=&keywordsrep=&keywordsfyc=&keywords_display=&sort_type=priceDESC&body_code=0&certified=&advanced=y&highlightFirstMakeModel=&showZipError=n&default_sort=priceDESC&awsp=false&keywordsrep=&keywordsfyc=&systime=&rdm=1239818709721) or a Mustang then (http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/searchresults.jsp?num_records=25&search_lang=en&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&search_type=both&distance=300&address=92807&marketZipError=false&style_flag=1&make=FORD&model=MUST&make2=&start_year=1999&end_year=2010&min_price=&max_price=14000&seller_type=b&transmission=&engine=8+Cylinder&drive=&doors=&fuel=&max_mileage=&color=&keywordsrep=&keywordsfyc=&keywords_display=&sort_type=priceDESC&body_code=0&certified=&advanced=y&highlightFirstMakeModel=&showZipError=n&default_sort=priceDESC&awsp=false&keywordsrep=&keywordsfyc=&systime=&rdm=1239818897368). For the money GT's are actually descent cruisers - they're just not very quick.
