Our inaugural ROTW run: August 14.

We're going to meet at a JCPenney with a large parking lot at 1:45p.m. The address is:

We're planning to leave the lot at 2:30p.m. The cruise route is roughly 3.5 hours and is about 145 miles.

We'll end up at BJ's across from the Ontario Mills Mall. The address is:

I was thinking of taking the T-Bird but the Vette gets better gas mileage even with 100 hp more. Torque is about the same.

i did this run with a couple of clubs back in june. started out on 138 at the 15 and it was a great ride in. came down SR-38. excellent run.

Considering mountains and traffic and stopping for pics, an easy 3 hours is more likely from start to BJ's. Maybe meet 2:15, leave 3:00, reach BJ's 6:00 +-. ???

I expanded the idea to be more detailed. LEAVE at 3:00 and I expect the cruise to be more like 3 hours. :smack:

Where exactly is a good start spot for this cruise that can accomodate potentially 50+ cars? I have it tentatively set around the University, but that's probably not gonna work. Anybody done this ROTW run know where others typically rendevouz?

The JC Penney's parking lot is large and right off the 10 freeway. And we can just take lugonia ave all the way up when we leave.

True... But on the bright side it only happend up the street from my house and now on the run 50 miles away. And these are the slightly bigger toothpicks and rubber bands that most people have problems with. :(

We're headed out early that morning for our vacation in Mammoth. After the flu this week, selling the Cobra, etc, I can't wait to get away. Looks like a ball though. I'm definitely planning to ride along in September wherever we go.

That was fun. Hopefully some got video of me overtaking Ben and drifting through that turn.

My issue turned out to be the radiator cap. I figured it was that or a head gasket. I'm glad it was the cap.

Wish I could have made it, needed to change the oil in the Vortech and being the first time I ran into a few issues I had to work out. gotta make the next cruise. by the way I saw some pictures of the event on the cool fords FB page

I had a good time as well. The cruise is no longer than Palomar or Angeles Crest for me. I drive all the way from south OC like Paul and we seem to make it.

For me, if anything, it felt a little shorter than the full ACH run. However, where the hell was everybody? We always pull 30+ and often 50~. Not really complaining as a small group has its tightness, just wonder'n. :huh:

BTW, my temp gauge just died. I freaked out a little when it was literally pegged all the way to the end of the dial, but I hadn't felt anything so I thought maybe it was a guage issue. Got out my trusty Taiwanese Bluetooth ODBII connector and DroidX Torque app. After coming to a rest, where there is always some pretty serious carry over, it was 217. As soon as I got back moving on the freeway the computer was reading 197~.

Also my starter weirdness isn't the body ground as I scrubbed it up good and reattached. The battery and starter are new. bigbird says those cables were coper clad aluminum and known to get a littler weird so I'll be replacing the positive this week and see if that improves the situation.

I really wanted to go but the trip to Redlands is like fuckin' far to begin with. The problem being, at least for me is, there are just too many neat roads between here and there and the majority of them will actually get me there...

I have no problem driving to La Canada and then to Wrightwood and then on up to ROTW, it's a long assed drive but it is very nice. Driving out the 10 to the 15 and then over to the 210 (yawn) is really no fun.

I will however try and make the next run as long as y'all head for somewhere I like to go.

Congratulations. You've been volunteered to plan a route you like and we'll do it for September. I was think'n one of them there LA canyon runs, of which you seemed to have a few variants that you've suggested in the past.

I've been sans PC for a little over a week and this forum runs like shit on my Windows 6.xx phone, thusly I've been incommunicado, so to speak. I could swear you guys weren't leaving til 3, so when I showed up at 2:45...anyway, my buddy(in the silver SRT8 Charger) lives in Yucaipa and make regular trips up there so we just went his way and stopped over at Lake Arrowhead's fine beachside McDonald's, lol. I saw Ben turn into the Von's parking lot, but continued playing follow the leader and figured we'd meet up at BJ's. We arrived at precisely 6 and when we left I noticed Ben's Vette, but was already on my way out, I guess we beat you somehow *shrug*. Anyway, I'll catch you guys next month, 3 days before my 25th birthday.

Yep, 'twas me, threw Ben a rev when I passed him and then saw him duck into the Von's parking lot and figured, fuck those guys, they didn't wanna hang out with me either, lol, j/k. But yea BJ's was pretty busy, but when we got there it was a 30 minute wait and they got my group of 4 in at 20 and some change. I figured it would be a crazy place to end the cruise right at dinner time, delicious meal though. Anyway, I'll see you guys next month.
