As some of you know, I'm mildly anti-government . . . :sm_up_there:.
But along with CERT, this is a good resource. Not unique, but if it reaches more people, all the better.

Honestly, if after the last few years of economic and natural troubles and outright disasters, if you don't take at least some steps to protect yourself, your family, and your community, you're kind of a dumb ass and maybe nature is just trying to remove you from the gene pool. :judge:

Good. Because not only does that mean you're more self reliant and self sufficient, an inherent good, you'll be in a position to help others who will really need it.

Are we not all brothers and sisters in the eyes of the Creator?
Slightly more seriously though, the Shotgun approach to preparedness might be moderately effective in the Mad Max scenario, but in the 99.999% of scenarios where things go sideways for a while, but civilization as you know it doesn't collapse, you will be going to prison as things go back online. To say nothing of the fact not everyone is unarmed. Listen, I'm not talking about astroid strike disasters here, I'm talking about, you know, earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, possible pandemics, things that have and are happening right now and majorly disrupting people's lives for a time. No governments are equipped to take care of everyone right away, you are in fact on your own for at least a bit, and if you aren't prepared you could needlessly be enduring some very cold and hungry nights.
And finally, looters should be burned at the stake and have their charred severed heads stuck on poles. Ok, that might be slightly over the top, but you get the picture. :smack:

BTW, don't forget your pets! They are living creatures too and completely dependent on you. All the same principles apply. Don't leave them out of any plans or you could be in for some heartbreaking experiences like a lot of people in Katrina.
