I don't have a ton of time to play, but I played like 45 minutes last night. Pretty slick so far.

I have it also. Not my usual play ( I do shooters ) but it is interesting. I bought it on a whim. I wanted something different. That it is. But, it is well done as it plays.

Me too, I'm more of a shooter guy. Loved Gears of War, and BioShock. I couldn't get into Halo 3 or Call of Duty 4 though. How far in are you so far?

Yep, 360 and PS3...I'm not sure about PC. I picked it up yesterday too and played it for a few hours. I think it started out a bit slow, but seeing how there is so much to do in such a large environment, it's probably a good idea so you don't get overwhelmed. I have the 1st and 2nd for PS1, but since I didn't own a PS2 all I know of the 3rd, Vice City, and San Andreas is what I've seen over at the Plunketts' and I am definitely pumped to get more into this one.

So after playing the missions for like an hour tonight, I'd have to say the game is okay so far (maybe 3 hours total). Despite the fact that the game has gotten almost universal acclaim, I'm having a tough time getting into it. It's not that it's bad, it just has that unpolished GTA feel to me. The shooting is still mediocre, the car physics are sloppy, and sometimes it's hard to tell exactly what you should be doing. I think I just don't dig the open ended nature of the game in general. I prefer the polish of Gears of War or BioShock as far as 1 player games go. I'm going to continue to plug through though - maybe I'll change my mind.

But see thats what i love about a game's like GTA. While there is some guidance to it all its still very open ended and free. You don't have to follow a true story line, you can go out an do whatever you feel (side missions and mini games and what not) thats always been the appeal to me.

That doesn't excuse the sloppy controls. Why every developer can't just copy Gears of War is beyond me. COPY THE CONTROLS - Gears is the best controlling 3rd person shooter ever. Also, the vehicles suck ass. Controlling them is annoying. It ruins missions because you get vehicles stuck on stupid stuff, or because they don't turn for squat. So far it's a solid 8 out of 10, but not the revolutionary game everyone has made it out to be. I may change my mind as time goes on though. I do think the story is interesting, and that the dialogue is good. Also, the voice acting is top notch. Graphics are good, but not mind blowing. We'll see, I may warm up to it as time goes by.

That seems to have always been the probelm for GTA games: bad shooting and poor driving. The physics in general in my past expierences have never really been good. I'm gonna pick it up soon, but i gotta get some free time first.

Honestly, Video Games are one thing I don't get. Ah well. Takes a Village I guess.

I would get a PS3 for the new F1 and GT5 though. . .

Now, the Rainbow Six Las Vegas 1 and 2 are really good. Those are top notch Shooters.

Hey, I have word from the turbobuick board there is a "grand national" and "t-type" in the game...I want confrimation from one of you guys! Sean if you get tired of it send it my way I'll gladly take it off your hands. The GTA handling and shooting have always been crappy it's all about the storyline for me...

I did happen to catch a glimpse of a GN, or what I'm 99% sure was a GN, as I was driving around on a mission. As far as the game so far, I do have to agree with Sean--the handling is pretty crappy especially if you want to take a turn at any speed above 5 mph...it's difficult to e-brake it too, but I'm sure that will just come with practice. I also agree that the story and voice acting are A++, I'm definitely enjoying it so far. I think this is also the first game where I've been able to sit through the cut scenes...the characters' movements don't have a ton of glitches and they don't seem as stiff and robot-like as they do in most games. Euphoria is pretty sweet too.

MADD wants this game to be pulled off the shelves because you can drive drunk in this game!
