I'm on a mission to cut expenses to the bone. $80~/month for DirecTV, basic+HD is not a great value really. I'm thinking of ditching it completely, and just go to OA and on demand. I think that'll cover everything I use really, and bring it down to a fraction of what I'm spending now.

I'm on the same mission now, found out i may be paying double at progressive for 2 cars for what i'd be paying at AAA with 3 cars

DirecTV you get what you pay for it is the best but you defiantly pay for it. I pay 140 a month for my shit and I don't really watch TV but when I do I want to find something.

The obstacle for me is recording some off air programming. It works seamlessly with my DirecTV box. I was going to go AppleTV, but it doesn't have an antenna input. I know you rolly our own PC to do this, which is why I'm considering it.

I've done this in the past...to put it simply you need the right software or it will turn out like crap. It kills me to say this but go with Windows Media center. It is the most well supported and it has a great interface. (or you can use mythTV and go the linux path)

I have an HD antenna card for my comp, still haven't put it in yet. I have my comp hooked up to my TV and I usually just watch stuff online.
