View Full Version : The curse of my bday

Through whatever it is that decides what happens in the universe I have had a shitty bday since I was 10 and seems this year is no different, after my dog acting weird for the past few weeks we took her to the vet to find she has a tumor the size of a softball on her spleen. The vet said there is a surgery that will cost roughly 2500 but will only give her an extra 3 months, so as it is now she's in a lot of pain and has a week or so to go, life sucks :(

I may have an issue with people, but my dog is a different story, I love that fuckin dog.

I'm very sorry to hear that. :( The attachment we get to our animals is in a lot of ways more pure and direct than we get to other people.

Sorry to hear that Guy. Did they at least give you something for her to help with the pain?

Yeah that's all we can do, we gave her some not too long ago, she seems calm now, all I can do is pet her and keep her comfortable. All I can hope is that she'll be the stubborn german bitch she always has been and give another 10 years of loyal service.

Very sorry Guy that sucks. I know what your saying I love my dog too. Last year my moms dog was crazy she would run into walls randomly start spinning in circles. We took her to the vet they said she had a tumor and had a week they gave my mom some pills told her take her home say good bye. One week than two weeks go by the episodes happen less and less. She runs out of pills and became bad again they got more she got better than gave her less and less half a pill every other day. Till they were gone took her back to the vet she is all of a sudden fine. She is fine to this day.

This dog has has her brushes with death before, but the tumor is very large, size of a softball or larger. Its pressing on her intestines and even rubbing her stomach yields a sharp yelp, and I have only heard this dog yelp once in her life.

Sorry to hear about your Dog.
Went thru that with Ralphie. It is so hard.

Pets are so much part of our lives. I like them better than people.

I definitely like my dog more than people, she's also about twice as useful as someone I work with

I know how that feels, had to put my childhood 14 year old Jindu/Husky mix down last September, but no regrets he lived a good life and had lot's of fun together! I have a 1 year old Siberian Husky pure bread now that's got way too much energy haha.

I lost Ralphie in September also. Darlene FINALLY talked me into getting another Maine Coone. Now I have Freddy. He actually thinks the world of me and loves to be in the shop with me. It helped me come to terms with Ralphie's death.

I still miss him though.:(

I lost my dear little pet Chinchilla, Spanky, about a year ago, long before their natural life span. I was inconsolable for days. I still miss him when I think about it. :(

Well she seems to have been fine since Monday after they gave her the meds, we're going to get a second opinion but I'm not going to get my hopes up, all I can do is curl up with her and watch animal planet, first dog I know to watch tv, and she'll do it for hours

Just keep doing that.

I used Huntington Beach Animal Hospital for the first opinion.

I used Garden Grove Animal Hospital for the third.

Got the second opinion from Golden West Humane Soicity on Gilbert Ave. in Garden Grove. I trust these guys the most. Great Old guy Vets there.

Happy Birthday Guy! I don't believe in curses, so I hope it's a good one.

Thanks man! Well last few days she has been back to her old self, running, playing, biting me cause she feels like it. We're starting to believe she's been being poisoned and that the tumor was actually fluid build up from whatever she was being given, we'll be taking her back for a second review soon, then confronting some neighbors again cause this isnt the first time.

Thanks dude, we installed a very serious security system about 7 years ago, however its been in need of updating, which we took care of this week to get to the bottom of it.

I'm sure there's many, but there's a dog training school in Yorba Linda that will condition dogs to only take food from their handler directly. They'll practically starve before eating food from any unknown source.

Shaolin Crane

Our dog was trained the same way, but she remains inside all day being she is a huge safety risk to people, so there could be a number of ways she is being poisoned

My mom had a Siamese for years. This cat was the king of the neighborhood. One day the teenager across the street was reading in his back yard and our cat came over a laid down on their back yard wall.

A while later the cat falls down and is trying to move. We take him to the vet and turns out the guy on the other side shot him with a pellet gun. The pellet lodged in the cats spine and paralyzed him so we had to put him down.

Revenge was meted out, but only if we could have put that guy in a wheelchair would have evened the score.

So I guess today was the last straw for her, she was fine through the morning but around 4pm she started to move very difficultly, she moved a few feet and collapsed flat on her side, rest for a bit the tried again, after the third fall she remained in place, extremely labored breathing, nonreactive to food or the spots she loved to be scratched in. She's still in the same spot, but not sleeping, fully aware of what's going on around her, just not willing or able to react, my dad made the choice to take her in tomorrow morning to have her suffering ended, not a great way to end fathers day or start a vacation.

Here is a picture of her last good day before it all went downhill. She must have known it was time cause she never liked to just lay in the yard, she was a machine and was always on patrol, im gonna miss her.
