Those of you hoping for a 400-horsepower Ford Taurus SHO (http://www.autoblog.com/2011/03/10/spy-shots-2012-ford-taurus-sho-spotted-in-the-wild-are-there/) are about to be severely disappointed. The 2013 Taurus SHO (http://autoblog.com/model/taurus+sho) will continue to produce 365 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque from its 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6. Sure, that's still plenty of oomph for the SHO, but with rumors of a higher-output version now dashed, all we can say is, "shucks."

Let's not dwell on that, though. There are still plenty of improvements for the 2013 SHO to talk about.

Much like the rest of the refreshed Taurus line (http://www.autoblog.com/2011/04/19/2013-ford-taurus-revealed/), the SHO features styling tweaks at both the front and rear. Unlike the base model, the SHO uses a unique mesh grille pattern up front and adds a new rear spoiler out back, as well as chrome-tipped dual exhaust pipes. A new 20-inch dark wheel option is also part of the SHO package, matching the black finish found on the mirrors and body trim. We like what we see.

There may not be a bump in power, but the 2013 Taurus SHO does get a new performance package option that is said to improve the car's performance prowess. Most notably, a 3.16:1 final drive ratio means initial acceleration is enhanced, and revised suspension tuning features new dampers and springs specific to this package. Additionally, the electronic steering system has been tuned, the stability control now has a track mode with a true 'off' setting and performance brake pads are now available with unique, "track-tuned" calipers. Still, we'd love to see an additional 40-ish horsepower.

Ford's B-roll footage of the SHO is available for your viewing pleasure post-jump (http://www.autoblog.com/2011/04/19/2013-ford-taurus-sho-revealed/#continued), as well.

I like the new interior better, but I've heard MyFordTouch is a little bit of a pain to operate. As far as exterior, I think I like the older model better.

Upon further review, I definitely like the looks out the outgoing model better.

I can't pick. But combine the 2 and you get a great car.

Except the non-sport chassis(dull steering, unresponsive suspension, crappy brakes and heftiness), the "truck-like" seats as stated in Motortrend and Car and Driver(no side support whatsoever), the impressive but still not V8 performance and the essentially redesigned Ford Five Hundred with a chopped roof(less headroom) underneath, yea, great car.

Ouch. Careful, your brand loyalty is showing. :sm_laughing:

And mid 12s with tune intake and exhaust on a 4k lb car. Its not a sports car, its a sedan. that gets great mileage and is a blast to drive

^ I agree, and I loved the interior of the outgoing model. lots of great features.

As far as looks, I like the rear of the new one better and the front of the old one looks better but I like the agressivness of the new one.

Yeah, about that mileage....

Most owners are NOT getting great mileage, but that's probably because they're beating the piss out of them :sm_laughing:

Ok great mileage for what it is. My truck gets great mileage...for what it is. But both will be nothing compared to a econobox

I like the new one all around better looks. I think the new grill just looks cheep swap it out for a black billet one and be done with it. I think the new hood defiantly looks better. The new tail lights look better I think that car would look real good in black. But its still a FORD.:poo::judge:

I like the new better from the rear. The car is huge and I thought about getting one, but I decided on my STS-V. I just wanted a V8. I just love the sound of a V8.

I was speaking from a daily driver point of view.

I drove it, everything I say is true, lol. And my dad's 2008 F-250 is leaps and bounds above the Chevy we had to trade in(not counting powerplant), how's that for brand loyalty? Anyway, the Taurus SHO is the weakest in the class, that's all I'm sayin', lol.

What is its class exactly? I guess the closest thing would be an R/T Charger or 300C, but I'd take a SHO over both of those. I think the SRT8 versions are much more expensive, but I could be wrong. The only other cars I can think of in that size with the performance would be a BMW 535i, or an Infiniti M56. Both of those are much more expensive though

Okay, I just looked at the price of a Charger R/T and it's significantly less than a SHO for a base. Even with options it's still less expensive.
