I heard this from a friend of mine, just wanted to see if anyone wanted to go or whatever. It is a Mile run on an airstrip as fast as you can go, if speed kills I'm a dead man. Its up in Mojave, CA. On April the 10th I believe. http://www.mojavemile.com/ is the website. Just a suggestion but there should be quite a few cars up there. Giving people plenty of time to check it out.

As in Knott's berry farm? Whats going on there that is more fun than going 150 mph?

This looks really cool. Unfortunately with my 3.91 rear end, my car runs out of gears at 167 miles per hour. I would think that I should be able to make it a bit faster than that when the new engine is up and running. Their website says that a stock Z06 hits about 170. I think my new engine should have a bit more grunt than the Z06. Maybe I should look into swapping in a 3.33 ring and pinion. That would bump my top speed to 196 mph. Or I can put the 3.45 ring and pinion back in that the rear end came with and rev 200 more rpm to get the same top speed.

I got to stop daydreaming and get back to work.

Maybe you shouldn't let work get in the way of day dreaming. My dad's friend with an 800hp Z06 was going to try and go but it's his girlfriend's birthday so he has to stay. It's hard to get past 170 anyways. Run that thing my boy!

I would be limited to 112mph with my tires. I pass that on the 1/4 mile.:o
speed ratings:
S 112 mph 180 km/h
T 118 mph 190 km/h
U 124 mph 200 km/h
H 130 mph 210 km/h
V 149 mph 240 km/h
W 168 mph 270 km/h
Y 186 mph 300 km/h

KDracer, Get some new rubber then haha. There is a guy in temecula who will treat your wallet right. I'm getting some hankook ventus 214 "dot" radials. Haha dot because they have 3 straight lines cut in them... LMAO haha not a rain tire.

Nobody makes a high speed 14 inch tire. I am running the stock 14inch wheels. Not worth the cash , to buy 4 tires and wheels for one event !

Not sure if I want to go watch yet. Probably not, though. It is a 1.75 mile runway. On a air strip that will be in use and air traffic across the track has priority. Spectator access is very limited. Being 200 yrds from one end of the track + watching a car 1 mile away....not that great. The pit area might be cool though.

I downloaded their forms but Im sure theyll want a rollcage and a firesuit for me to run. I dont think theyll let me get to 186 based on tire rating...if I can go that fast in a mile.

From their rulebook for 2010 you should be fine. The hard top/ targa roof that the vettes have qualify from what I understand. The convertible is not, however, able to compete without a cage from what I understand.
