Ok out of pure curiosity, I'm wondering what everyone does for a day job. I'll start the thread off.

My main income comes from:

SIKE!

Ok, joking aside, I really hate to admit it but my true day job is an insurance claims adjuster. I have seen pretty much everything except decapitation. Here are a few examples of what I see pretty much on a daily basis.

My weekend happenings include a being a semi-professional photographer as well as the official "photo-bitch" of motorgen.com.

If you ever have an issues or claims problems/question let me know and I'll help field that answer.

Ok, someone else's turn....

I work for the 5th largest credit union in the country. I specialize in lending for my branch. At this point I see more collections than I do new loans though... I also am co-owner of this lovely site. In my spare time I like to make fun of my brother (BGN8711) for his high 14 second car, and I occasionally talk trash on X-box live...

That's a cool job, what do you do on a day to day basis (actual job responsibility)?

Not Partners, Partners is small compared to us. We're the largest Credit Union on the west coast. Here is an article on it: http://www.creditunions.com/home/articles/template.asp?article_id=2513 I think most of the bigger ones are all government CU's.

I know the Navy Federal Credit Union is pretty large but on the scale of things I don't know how large.

Steve,

I'm totally dig'n the chicken glove on the head. Such a classic! Now all you gotta do it put a straw in it and blow it up.

I'm a Project Engineer in the commercial division of a structural engineering firm in Irvine. I do mostly retail structures, but have done a few homes and a pretty cool statue for a professional hockey team. Here's the architect's rendering of one of the buildings I'm currently working on:

I was doing work for Selenium, a pro louspeaker manufacturer. I would cut apart the returned drivers that had blown up and I decided whether it was the customers fault, or the companys fault.

95% of the time it was the companys fault, glue failure typically. They try to save 50 cents using the cheaper glue and end up wasting $80 in metal parts for the larger woofers. Occasionally there was a head scratcher that took a while to diagnose. If there was ever a question, I would always credit the customer.

Here's a burnt VC.

When the VC is burnt evenly all the way around, theres no mechanical cause, it's a simple case of over powering. Customers fault. I would write reports describing the problems so that they could fix them, which I'm sure were all filed properly in boss's trash box. :blah:

But they haven't given me any work in over a month now! I'm hungry! So is Cambria.

The only other way a customer could be at fault, was if the bottom of the VC was smashed on the pole piece with the suspension intact. That happens when you hit the speaker with excessive low freq below the port freq. :blah:

Don't get into the speaker business unless you want to sell, all of the engineering/ manufacturing is moving to China.

It never hurt to learn for the sake of a hobby. I'm still learning about carbs, and I'm fairly certain they've stopped using those in cars now. :sm_laughing:

Unless you're setup to measure those crossovers, you're really just shooting in the dark. Unless you're just doing simple hi-pass lo-pass stuff.
