Yea so I know most of you guys on here have some gnarly rides and I know most of you will probably call the little balt a "ricer" even though it was built in Ohio. But for $20,000 you have to admit this little thing is gonna be fast. For those of you who don't know what a Cobalt SS is here is a quick rundown. Its a 2.0 liter LNF Ecotec turbocharged, intercooled 4 banger, 5 speed manual, about 2800lbs as it sits at the curb, and it comes with 260hp and 260lbs./torque at the crank off the showroom floor.
I just finished with the full bolt ons. That would include the following: a Cold Air Intake, new (aluminum instead of plastic) charge pipes from turbo to intercooler then to throttle body, new intercooler, catless 3 inch downpipe, full 3inch exhaust.. With just a tune on it I cut a 13.8 1/4 mile at 107 mph in Tucson, AZ at about 4,000feet of elevation in October. Now I'm pretty stoked to see what she can do at the 1/4 with all the bolt ons. I'm going to toss her on the dyno on Friday morning since the HP tune is going to be all dialed in and see what she does. It should be about 320hp and 350lbs/torque, or so I'm told. I'll be spiking at 25 psi of boost and holding 24psi til about 6000RPM when the turbo runs out of breath and drops to about 20-22psi. I have a full thread here (http://www.cobaltss.net/forums/2-0l-lnf-performance-tech-153/stage-3-treadstone-install-walkthrough-234554/)
Hopefully I'll be going on some cruises with you guys and have a little fun running with some fast cars.

I love the LNF, It doesnt get much better then 18 psi stock. It is a killer little motor and i really wanted to try out the no lift shift the 2010 ss has I just haven't had a chance to test drive one yet.
and 320 ish hp is nothing to feel bad about in a 2800 pound car (but that power does go to the wrong wheels :lmfao: ) your only a little off of my power to weight ratio
My V is 3850 and is makeing close to 500 hp ( at the wheel)

Yea every time I mash the go pedal now one of 2 things happens #1 the ESC lights up like a Christmas tree and tries to kill me, or #2 the tires completely lose traction if I took the ESC off. I love my LNF also. Direct injection and VVT is where its at. Plus a turbo helps alot too. I was running about 15psi stock. The ECU has a torque management feature that limits the output of the motor to 260 lbs at the crank. One that was removed and the boost turned up to 22 I cut a 13.8 1/4 mile. That was while everything else was stock.
I won't be no lift shifting (NLS) anymore. The tires would hate me... I already get enough wheelspin in 2nd just flooring it at 40 or shifting from first. NLS would let me hold boost in between shifts but heck I lose traction on the shift into 3rd without using NLS. Half of that can be blamed on front wheel drive the other half can be placed on the car having well over 300 horse at the wheels... I love this thing!

Well I dynoed the car today. The beast showed 310 hp and 369lbs/tq on a Mustang Dyno. Since the mustang reads lower than a dynojet the number should be a bit higher but I'm pretty happy none the less.

What does the curve look like? Numbers are only a barging point. ( not like that's a bad thing) It doesn't really matter what the motor peaks at if it has power through out the entire rev band. My car only peaks at 450 lbs/tq but it never drops bellow 410 (from 1500 to 6550) so I make a ton of tq in almost any gear its just hard to explain that when you give people one number

Very true... I am at work right now and dont have the dyno numbers in front of me but I will post the graphs when the shop emails me. The torque is mosterous (for a 2.0 four banger) from 3k rpms to about 6k.

Awesome numbers! Definitely post a graph up ASAP. The Cobalt SS is such a badass car for the money.

It sounds like it. The LNF is in my top 5 motors

Area under the torque curve is where its at. The flatter and wider the plateau the better.

Damn it, the shop didn't email me my graphs and video lame asses. I'm going to go by tomorrow and put it on a thumb drive so I can have it on my laptop and post them up here... Stand by for dyno numbers guys, sorry.

And the graph. The dyno shop's printer was broken on the dyno computers apparently... They had to print it out on the shop's other computer so I didn't get the peak tq and hp at what rpm and stuff but here you go. I'm never using this shop again. So there is a big smudge on the dyno graph... that would be where the fwd beast started to pull up off the drums and the tires lost traction. It fooked up how the graph looks and I am a little unhappy. The just weren't set up very well for a fwd car. If they would have told me that this was only the second fwd car they ever did I wouldn't have gone there. But they didn't tell me that until after the first run so oh well. Enjoy
