[EDIT: Vettezuki - 11/5 02:17 PDT]

Ok, unless a bunch of you throw full scale nancy-boy fits, we're going to make our inaugural Palomar Mountain Circuit.

Meet at A (see maps below) at 4:00 pm.

Regardless of what final route we choose, we will start at A.

WARNING: If you're coming from North Orange County, and certainly South OC, you're probably better off taking the 5 south and cutting over to the 15 using Ortega (bonus!). Check back at the top of this thread for updates.

Details subject to change. But it'll be something like this (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=33.329387,-117.16204&daddr=33.364201,-117.087093+to:CA-76+E+to:S+Grade+Rd%2FPalomar+Mountain+Rd+to:33.314 271,-116.8654+to:33.255665,-116.759671+to:33.232083,-116.759759&hl=en&geocode=FeuQ_AEdyD8E-Q%3BFekY_QEdi2QF-Q%3BFTjy-wEdT18H-Q%3BFXMH_AEdakQI-Q%3BFd9V_AEdiMYI-Q%3BFfFw-wEdiWMK-Q%3BFdMU-wEdMWMK-Q&mra=ls&sll=33.298445,-116.960945&sspn=0.280643,0.617294&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=11).

I think this (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=33.329387,-117.16204&daddr=33.364201,-117.087093+to:33.33747,-116.93153+to:33.30407,-116.85076+to:33.255665,-116.759671+to:33.232083,-116.759759&geocode=FeuQ_AEdyD8E-Q%3BFekY_QEdi2QF-Q%3BFX6w_AEdNsQH-SnxbYwYiZDbgDHDRZ1pRrR_6w%3BFQYu_AEduP8I-Sn9hMdWjJbbgDFm3RjsKKgbYQ%3BFfFw-wEdiWMK-Q%3BFdMU-wEdMWMK-Q&hl=en&mra=mrv&mrcr=1&via=2,3&sll=33.266537,-116.870155&sspn=0.228501,0.445976&ie=UTF8&ll=33.276009,-116.878738&spn=0.456952,0.891953&t=h&z=11) is possibly (according to curves on map) a more interseting variant.

OP
What do we want to do next month gentlemen? GMR is the best run, but we do it so often. Turnbull is cool, but very short. What do you guys think? Any suggestions?

How about something like (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=CA-138+E&daddr=CA-138+E+to:34.21511,-117.29174+to:7777+Victoria+Gardens+Ln,+Rancho+Cuca monga&geocode=FQ-PCwId64L_-A%3BFQ2RCwIdu28B-Q%3BFcYUCgIdJEUC-Sk5k3VlH1HDgDHxp_zhh8QQhg%3BFfqDCAIdeK7--Cl5xl1lGErDgDEiZ-GDz5AOAg&gl=us&hl=en&mra=dpe&mrcr=1&mrsp=2&sz=11&via=2&sll=34.215209,-117.287979&sspn=0.235073,0.617294&ie=UTF8&ll=34.251541,-117.412262&spn=0.469942,1.234589&z=10) this. This would be a lot more convenient for our IE folks. It's not that long, or too short. It's not like a full mountain loop, but includes some great roads and we've never done it.

Sean is in deep thought. I'm down for it. It's not so close for those of us coming from North OC, but it isn't terrible either. Any good eating places to end up at?

Im coming from way down south myself...Imperial beach to be exact...Once you get into the heart of palomar, and keep heading into towar julian there are plenty of places to eat...I don't know really...If we took the route coming back out and ended up where we started we could just eat there just before everybody splits to go there own way home...I don't know just a thought...

Okay, the Palomar cruise is possible, but I'm just nervous because I won't have time to prerun it. Also, I probably won't be able to go. I'm busy on the 6th, 7th, 13th(normal cruise day), and the 21st, and then I'm out of town in Florida the following weekend.

What day would you want to go? I can still organize it even if I'm not going.

A family issue has unexpectedly come up and I most likely like won't be able to make the 13th. This means there would be no Motorgen "staff" representation. This certainly doesn't mean you guys can't make it happen on your own, but please see poll and let us know your preferences before we promote out to other car sites (if Sean hasn't already).

As for time it could start earlier. What do you suggest?

Well I'm flattered that my presence is such a draw, but I'm still leaning heavily to sticking to the 13th. I just really like some consistency in dates for events and we've been pretty good about the every second saturday thing.

The end of the routes is a BBQ joint. I don't know anything about it.

Im going to probably have the trans out of the Z that weekend, so I may be a no-show on this one as well. ( Even if I dont, i'm not sure i'd be going, not real keen on a canyon run with a sick trans :bang: ) Should certainly be squared away by the 27th, which was my preference, but should you folks decide to go on the 13th ill do my best to make it. If not, have fun, be safe as always! :drink:

Well since you guys are down in my neck of the woods I just might have to join ya.

I havent taken the Nate Harrison route as I usually head to the S6 grade. There is Mothers Kitchen at the half way point just before you head down the E grade, it'd be a good spot to stop and regroup, pee, grabe a water, there's a store there too. You cant miss it, it'll be on your right as you come up to it.

Had a great time. The drive was a lot of fun and BBQ at the end was really good. Where were all the San Diego people???
John and I will be back down at Escondido tomorrow meeting the Cadillac V's.

Hi All... The run was great!!! although, i only did half of the run, you guys rock ass and thanks for showing this noobie around with the crew. :hail: its been a while since i have taken my ride for a run which i thought the run that you guys plan was impressive and beatiful. unfortunately, i did dent up my ride just a little bit, but it was all worth it. I like all of the different background in these type of groups so I'll be excited if we can ever do another run together sometimes!

ps- next time, i am putting on my track tires so that i can burns rubber like all of you.

Thank you for turning a long, stressful, traffic-filled day getting to the meet spot into a really enjoyable evening run. A special thanks to kdracer73 for your automotive gymnastics. Also, kudos to whomever did the maps; they were bang on right from the start. Looking forward to the next cruise.

The Ride up was great. Tight and fast going up Palomar Mtn Rd. Coming down was a little rough, but no big spark show this time

The food was very good ! I passed it at first (no lighted sign ). Frankie said " I think that was it ! " Then I SMELLED it ! Holy CRAP ! Gotta find a spot the 5 of us can u-turn !
Hard to get good pics and video in the low light. I posted a short video in the vid section.
Frankie loved having all the men to herself !

All you " full scale nancy-boys" that didn't make it, missed a very good cruise !!

I'm glad it was a hoot for the few and the proud. For you new guys, we do a run (our very best to do a run) every second Saturday. The reason I pushed to do this even though no Motorgen staff would be there is to keep that consistency and to try a new run. After talking to Sean, will probably do GMR in December and do this run again in January.
