I did a Mulholland cruise for my Camaro club and Jay Leno pulled up in Eco Jet.
"The primary goal was to design and build a car that ran on environmentally friendly, renewable bio-diesel fuel and that didn't drive like a Prius. Of course, as Jay has quipped, that makes harvest time the only time of year when there'll be plenty of fuel available, but that's beside the point.
The heart of the EcoJet is a 650-horsepower Honeywell LT-101 turbine engine, which sits inside a modified Corvette Z06 hydroformed aluminum frame with aluminum and magnesium structural and chassis components. The vehicle's shell is an advanced construction of carbon fiber over Kevlar, and the body is painted with environmentally friendly paint from Glasurit's 9 Line Waterborne Technology lines, which is designed to dramatically reduce emissions during application."

It's required by law now that all vehicles in california be painted with waterborne, hell I have some for my car, it really is bitchen paint, no cause it saves the environment but because its a urethane/water base instead of lacquer, makes it 75% more flexible than lacquer even without a flex agent. Good shit.

Though I couldnt afford glasurit :(

So I was at my friend's house today to retune my computer for new larger injectors and sort out a problem, when he offers to show me a new addition to his stable. As we stand before the garage door, about to open, I'm thinking Harley, maybe a new Camaro next to the Vette project car, then he's "man, it's really a buyer's market out there."

Yeah, guess so. Not exactly what you expect to see in a middle class Torrance neighborhood. These (355 F1 Spyder) aren't super expensive as Ferraris go, but they ain't exactly chump change either. I *think* he said he spent about $62k for it. The most recent service from the previous owner, was like a $10k "refresh".

It's pretty awesome, next time he's going to take me out in it.

And the Vette ain't exactly stock, it's a 402 Twin Turbo with turbo headers that alone are works of art, fabbed up by a guy who does exhaust fab for Indy cars.

I realize this is an old post, but IIRC the F355 requires new timing belts every 15K miles and the cost to change them is about 10 stacks... christ...

It had both lights in the grill and the back window. So it might not be a "Cop" car but it can/will pull you over.

I have a friend that took a new charger police car out to Seal Beach and it topped out at 160. IIRC the 300C SRT8 tops out at 170.

Ya the chargers are gear limited to 173 (they reach this in 4th).
My V in drag limited (tall 6th gear) so the V can only do 163 stock.
Well the new V Is also drag limted (tall 6th gear) can do 191 stock.

I have a little more power to the wheel then a New V and the gearing is almost the same (+/- .01 of a ratio)

I've only been up to Redline in 5th. I didnt shift in to 6th to see how it felt/pulled.

I redlined in 4th and pulled to about 6000rpm in 5th with the tune. Without the tune the fun shuts off at 150.

I was on biz in Phoenix and while visiting a friend who works at the Children's Hospital in Phoenix, saw this little gem in parking garage.

I help my pa with his shopping most weekends and saw this awesome Caddy in the parking lot of Stater Bros. in Norco. The thing that still blows me away thinking about it is that . . .it was on with the owner shopping. But he could get away with it because it was seriously, I mean seriously bordering on silent. I actually thought it was the AC running on an adjacent building or some other environmental noise it was that quiet. Then I mentioned it to my dad who grew up in the 30s/40s and he said that was something the luxury cars were known for then. I suppose other cheaper cars made a hell of a racket, but this was as quiet as ANY modern quiet car with an engine and quieter than most.

It was for sale for $9k. I have no idea what the market is for this particular model is in its condition, but that seems reasonable to me, even in this market. The body only appeared to have some flash rust, no dings, and original everything as far as I could tell. I'm sure an expert would have something more to say. But I'd put this up there with with a Studebaker Starliner as old cars I like.

Now for something differnt. I was at CES in January and Audi had a pretty shit hot booth. This concept was pretty cool. It was a two seater, but curiously the seats were not directly next to each other, but sort of on a diaganol. With a little spunk, this would be an awesome kind of car for typical Urban driving.

Notice the full color HUD. It was amazing. The bald guy was an Audi rep explaining the tech with a wonderful, exquisitely clear and devoid of all emotion German accent.

Saw a crazy one the other day... Didn't have time to take a pic. At Yorba Linda and placenta blvd in the Von's parking lot, there was a car that must have been in neutral, it looked like it rolled from the parking lot onto the sidewalk and hit a tree. It was wedged on top of a parking burn, between the tree. Pretty funny.

For anyone paying attention last week there was this big ass rock on the move from Riverside to Los Angeles, it was pretty neat what with all the activity that went on around, in front of and behind of the big ass rock.

So anyway, the route brought it over Pathfinder in Diamond Bar and then over Colima, both of which have inclines greater than 4% and it would seem the three rigs already attached to it aren't quite enough to get it up the hill.

Had a little accident at work this week. A hydraulic ram failure allowed one side of the lift to drop. Only one side of the rack had a locking device so the car dropped off the lift. This was a car from my Camaro club that we had been working on. Lucky for me it was on the shop ticket, so our insurance will cover the cost, but the owner is very upset. 5 year restoration destroyed.

I've been pulled over twice in the truck and both times it wasnt for the windshield.

They thought i was drunk and swerving all over the place (That is just how the truck drives)

It needs a steering stabilizer before a new windshieldOh, this is the truck. My bad for not looking at the photos closer. (I see the antenna now) Still, stop drinking & driving. ;)

I love white cars. Both my current cars are white, nearly every car ive ever had is white. Just not sure that its a great "supercar" color. I love the 458 italia, for instance, but would never get a white one. Kind of hides all the lovely curves. Ditto this case.

Uhm, ford used to own cummins stock when that truck was made. Now all their trucks are running in house engines, and talking to my buddies who are mast techs much better then the old international engines. Sucks because most of them are losing jobs because of lack of work on them.

For the record that is an older f650 long before the TTV8's offered now. I dont believe the cummins is an option anymore being the 6.4 and 6.7 engines are far superior. Not only do they out HP them, but also out torque them.

We had a Camaro club cruise in Palos Verdes Sunday, and one of the members has a friend with a Garage Ma Hall. So he invited us over after the cruise......
More money than he knows what to do with...very nice guy though. The garage has a wall to wall to wall to wall mural of the history of the automobile.
And at night, the room looks different because the mural has black lighting details that glow. He has a 914 , 911 Targa, 80's Taurus SHO that looks like new, Cyclone pick-up, Corvair Conv, 56 Olds 88, Parnelli Jones Mustang, 37 Auburn Speedster(Kit Car, but cool), and the house was cool too. He bought the house and empty lot next door. Used the empty lot to add the garage and master bedroom above.

All these old farts got huge garages ! Our Camaro club member that hosted us, has a 3000 sq foot main house( with a 10' X 20' fire proof gun vault next to master bedroom, full of cool stuff) a 4 car main house garage, a 9 car garage with guest house on top, and is building a 5000 sq ft garage on the lot below him.

Not gonna lie. A little bit jealous.

It's actually much nicer than back in the day. It's cheaper and less populated because the commute to LA, etc., would make you want to murder someone within about a month. . . yet many people do it.

I like Devore up and Glen Avon up the road a little ways.

Should have taken a pic but I was in Japan last week and probably saw a Yakuza parked in a big AMG Black Biturbo something or other in front a club. Like literally blocking the door and driver was on his phone. Guessing someone may not have made good on their end of a deal.

Kylie used to be but not so much anymore. She's gotten into writing so she spends a lot of her free time reading and writing. That might change once I start working again on the F100 she'll be driving. I just haven't had the time between getting the Cobra going and being in a cast. I did pull out the windshield trim yesterday so that I can get it polished up so we can get a windshield installed.

Mya never really was into helping but she's my four wheeling buddy. Whenever we go out on short notice when we aren't going as a family Mya goes with me. She likes to go four wheeling and exploring. Looking at that picture it's hard to believe that she's only 9! She's about 5'5" and only an inch behind Kylie. I think she'll pass her within a year.

Yup it is true. Some guy a few weeks back decided not to stop before hitting the car behind me that then hit me and I then hit the car in front of me. I am of course fine and Yazmin will be fine once the body shop takes care of her. She should be done next Tuesday. About time, they have only had it for 2 weeks now (not their fault). Even stripped down she is sexy!
