I like the F430 better.

I'm going to go ahead and have to disagree. The F430 is awesome, but the F458 is superior.

Care to attempt an explanation of why it is aesthetically "superior" that can be objectively understood by others as such?

I agree with Sean. I like the 458 Italia better. The 430 is a beautiful car, but this is the first ferrari that I actually "desired" since I was 8 with a Testerosa poster on my wall.

You and Ron said you like the 458/430 better respectively. That doesn't require backup, it's just a matter of taste and preference. Sean said the 458 is superior. That requires backup. :pot_stir:
FTR, I prefer the 458 too. I like the apparently longer more slender proportions, compound curves and more pronounced haunches. It's very feminine in an elegant sort of way to my eye. I don't care fro the rims. I'd like something with a little more substance (actual size) and perhaps complexity. This body also looks good in other colors to my eye, where previous Ferraris really were all about red and maybe black.

I will agree with Sean. The 458 is sex on wheels. I saw a red one at Cars and Coffee a few weeks back.

A Red 458 has been at Cars and Coffee for the past 2 weeks if you want to see it :) It usually takes off around 7:30 though :boggled:

The 458 has more sexiness, cars with more sexiness are aesthetically superior, thus the 458 is superior. It's irrefutable.
Ben, weld something for me.

You hurt my brain. What do you need welded (poorly) this time.

The AFB carb on the boat has this stupid air flow valve mechanism which is basically a weighted set of butterflys that swing open with enough air flow. They are opening too soon, causing a bog, so I need you to weld a nut or something to each of the weights to make it heavier.
Are you ready for me to come by and get that bumper on finally? I'll just bring it next time I come over.

1 - Jeremy Clarkson is a genius.
2 - I gotta figure out how to make some real money some day.
3 - I am curious what a ZR1 would do on that track.

1) Agree
2) Let me know if you figure that out
3) Corvette ZR1 1.20.4, but I believe it was on a wet surface.

I believe the estimate for the wet surface spread on that track is at about 2 seconds. So the ZR1 is clearly in the same raw performance category.

The fact that a 4200lb Bugatti Veyron SS is the current record holder is amazing to me.

AWD with 1200hp and more importantly 1100tq to get that 4200lbs moving.

That covers the accelerating part for sure, but the stopping and turning of that much inertia is mind bending. All things equal, reducing weight is about the best thing you can do for total performance. However, if you have more than a million to spend on a car, these factors can be substantially mitigated. :smack:

It has huge carbon fiber discs with 8 piston calipers in the front and 6 piston calipers in the rear. Not to mention the rear wing is used for braking. It has braking covered and the AWD helps with accelerating out of turns.
Granted, at 4200lbs it is heavy but the ZR1 is somewhere around 3300-3400lbs. The rule of thumb I've always heard was losing 100lbs is like picking up 10hp. The Veyron has about 560hp more than the ZR1.

I'd love to see them fit the Bugatti SS Engine into a 3500lb car :)

Why when you can build an LS with twin turbos and make just as much power. However, you won't have the aero, brakes, AWD, etc. that the Veyron has.

That's called an SSC Ultimate Aero. (Actually I think they weigh somewhat less, but I'm not sure.)

I can't get into the Ultimate Aero. I've seen it in person and it just isn't that impressive.

It gets a "meh" from me too, somehow just a generic supercar. I only meant technically speaking. Probably a hoot to drive though!

Ferrari has been forced to recall its latest supercar after reports that several had burst into flames.
The Italian carmaker revealed it had investigated five "thermal incidents" across the world involving its 458 Italia model, which was unveiled last year at the Frankfurt motor-show. No fatalities were reported.
