OP

Alright everyone, it's that time again. The front part of Angeles Crest is closed so we're starting a little further north this year. A few members ran this exact route a few weeks ago though, so I know it's good.

The plan is to meet at Ralphs at 3:30p.m. and leave for the cruise at 4:00p.m. The address for the Ralphs is:

10455 Sunland Blvd.
Sunland, CA 91040

The cruise route we're going to take (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=10455+Sunland+Blvd&daddr=Oro+Vista+Ave,+San+Fernando+Valley,+Los+Ange les,+California+to:Angeles+Forest+Hwy%2FCo+Hwy+N3+ to:CA-2+E%2FAngeles+Crest+Hwy&geocode=FdPFCgIdnX3y-Clnx2xNZpPCgDEliH1F5aSfyw%3BFdPnCgIdLqXy-CnlbwCARpPCgDGmTRtyd9GQdQ%3BFTfPCwIdAJr1-A%3BFZSUDAIdCi78-A&hl=en&mra=ls&via=2&sll=34.119385,-117.869155&sspn=1.009576,2.705383&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=11) will run about an hour and 45 minutes, so we should be done by 6:00p.m. I'm looking at different dinner options and I'll try to finalize a place and post it in the thread in a couple days.

Last year we had somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 cars, so it should be a great one. It's an incredible drive if you've never been. See you all there!

Did that run a few years ago and the group decided to eat at Ontario Mills.
Wrong, place was packed one hour min to eat in the sit-downs. 3 of us ended up at Quiznos.

No food, but Bass Pro Shops is right there off the 15. Lots of toys in there.

Do you know how to set up a search on Autotrader so that it alerts you when a car becomes available? My mom's Subaru was super hard to find and that's how I finally managed to track one down.

july 10th eh? i might be able to come out for this one and bring the cobra this time. :)

there are literally a TON of places to eat in rancho cucamonga and near ontario mills. if you pick a restaurant, just be wary of the wait and the added gratuity. :p

Do they have ammo? You could stock up for the 24th !

I do believe they do. But heck, I ain't armed, I just shoot my mouth off. :smack: I'll need to borrow/rent a weapon for the 24th. I was thinking about getting a Sig 522LR (pretty cheap and cool looking too) but I'm pouring what spare cash I have into the Project car and my wife will probably wig out if I pick up another hobby.

PS I'm looking at going outdoors at Prado for the 24th. Much closer to the beach areas than Lytle Creek. The Firing Line doesn't take reservations and looks like they fill up on Saturdays pretty fast.

Our Corvette club(Corvette Super Sports) goes to Prado monthly and we'll be there on the 24th in the AM. Let me know what time your thinking of getting there and I'll let the people at Prado know that Motogen is part of our "extended group" than theres no waiting.

That might be cool, Motorgen peeps + CSS. BTW, is it pretty available or does it fill up? I want to lock this down and do it somewhere in the OC. I was thinking afternoon, then head to the beach.

For dinner tomorrow, I'm thinking of the Fuddruckers at Ontario Mills. I've had a hell of a time finding a suitable place near Wrightwood. This is also Alexis' first week back at work and I've been with Jack by myself all week. It's amazing how much time it takes - I haven't been online much at all :(

It's been a great education though so far (two weeks left).

After Fudruckers, my brother and I went to the Redneck Mecca of Bass Pro Shop/Outdoor World. That place is fu*king amazing! BTW, it looks like it actually has quite a decent restaruant (sea food, love it.). Also, near the shop looks like a strip of restaurants emulating some kind of downtown vibe. Next time we do this run I'd like to give one of these areas a whirl.

My buddy in a black S2000 was with the Palmdale group. Myself in my white WRX and my buddies in the red S2k and blue wrx were waiting for him just before the junction with the 138. Yep, we had about 6 cars that missed the turn and went straight . I think some gave up and got on the 14fwy and went home. The Vette was behind us and made it to Fudds, but took off just as the rest pulled in.

Haha, yeah I was part of the Palmdale group... I don't remember who was up front but it was 6 of us who missed the turn and just kept following each other off course. I just checked the map, and it was about 10 miles past the turn when we all stopped and realized we were off. While we were there, a Mini pulled up and thought they had just caught up ;p One of my little dogs who was along for the ride got car sick (doh!), so I figured to just grab the 14 and head home at that point. Next time, I'm bringing my gps and leaving the dogs at home!

Good times. I have a clunking in the chassis or suspension. I think it is the front lower ball-joints that have over 80k miles on them, and hopefully not a broken swaybar/mount/endlink. Will be getting new aftermarket rear LCAs in a couple weeks, and hopefully some nice aftermarket swaybars to replace the 32mm/19mm OEM SS/WS6 setup I have had since 2006.

Once a week? I'm in!
Me too. LOL. I'll let you go in front of me so I can see how to dodge the rocks again.

I had fun...despite missing the turn...TWICE. I saw people coming back the other way...didn't know what to do. :( But managed to catch up to Sean. Look forward to the next one!

So I think that the last little run on the freeway may have caused a little header leak. Had it re-sealed before, but heading back to RET at the end of the month. The cruise was still lots of fun. Hope to see everyone out again.

You can only learn to truly dodge rocks after they have been kicked up by a ANNOYINGLY YELLOW Mustang, ricocheted off the front fascia and down the entire undercarriage of an ANNOYINGLY ORANGE Charger only then to be spat out in smaller harder to dodge car killing bits....

Sorry, I must have omitted that small bit of information from my previous post.
My apologies

I MAY have been one of the cars in that pack. I'm trying to see if I can get a video from the other cars.

Ben (Vettezuki) has my dash cam video... My camera likes making things difficult aparrentley... My camera's codec won't play nice with the site.

any news on the next cruise? I remember something about august for the next event on the bottom of the directions but lost those.

That little freeway cruise afterwards was fun hah.

We're thinking to do a Rim of the World cruise. Sean is looking into it.

Coming tomorrow. Not sure about a ROTW cruise for August. It's a fairly long one and I would want to check the route out first. I'm making a decision on something tomorrow though.
