Disclaimer: When you try this at home and kill yourself, I will not be held liable. I do not recommend doing this, ever.

First, and most important, forget everything you know about safety and physics. Because you will need to hang the boat from the ceiling to make this work. Also, your back will be on the ground and against the wall, so forget about proper shooting techniques.

Then sand as much of the boat as you can get to with it on the trailer, to minimize time being under the boat while it's hanging.

Then suspend. Bolt an engine host (not a cherry picker, which is something G&E uses to service transformers on telephone polls, not lift motors) to the motor, one in front, one in back on the opposite side.

Jack up the front of the trailer. Then drill and screw in some hooks from the ceiling, and on the wood of the boat, as far forward in the boat as possible. Tie the hooks together using tow rope. Slowly lower the jack, you will probably need to make adjustments to the rope length to keep it level. Now the front is lifted.

Now, jack up the engine with the hoist. Careful. The boat should be suspended. Use your bad lower back to slide the trailer out from under it.

Place jacks and jack stands underneath intelligent spots in case the boat were to fall. Get under there and finish sanding. (This is the part you shouldn't do, becuase you may die.)

Fiberglass repairs, filler, and sand. I got rid of some ugly useless rivets.

Use epoxy prime and topcoat within 24 hours to avoid having to sand the primer. I finished with 80 on a DA, that's it. If you need to do some spots by hand, finish with at least 320.

http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs575.snc3/31386_615075950900_19912599_35143943_7095824_n.jpg

Now, go outside and calm down your landlord who is yelling at you. Talking about air quality laws and not being able to spray there legally. Calm him down and assure him that you're only spraying primer. Get into a conversation with him and figure out when he'll be back the next day, so you can finish when he's not around.

Hose down the walls and the floor to lock down the dust. Then spray the top with your color of choice after your landlord leaves. No need to mask anything extra.

Let the top dry, but make sure to shoot the bottom within 24 hours of shooting epoxy. Mask, razor blade on the tape for round edges of the design. Shoot your second color.

Wait about 4 hours, peel the tape back at an extreme angle to prevent pulling up good paint.

Big thanks to KameleonGT for hooking it up with the paint at a sweet price!

Thanks. I'm still sad about the peel, but for a boat that I intend to put to use it's not bad.

I'm adding an anonymous poll to see what you guys really think, because I expected more responses.

Paint was Northstar brand single stage. If you have the cash, use House of Kolors with slow reducer. Comes out sniiice.

What about...

Option 1 - The "Fangs" just are a little longer and the between is black

or

Option 2 - Think Batman at hooters.

Thanks guys! It's so funny that you posted that Adam, because I was just returning to ask if you guys thought I should add a center spear. And maybe bring the dash line out a bit like in your rendering.

It's hard to tell, but the spears roll into a line separating the yellow from the dash/ guage area that is all charcoal.

If I do a center spear, it won't roll into the others, it will come out from a straight line. But I just might make the side spears a bit thicker. I think I'll wait a few weeks for it to dry, colorsand it, and spray the center spear before I buff out the sanding scratches.

I like it as it is too. I will say that I also like the "Batman" as well, especially if it was a little more sharp for lack of a better word; less chunky.

Yeah you could call it the Aqua Bat. ;)

I can see what you are talking about. I think at the very least you should make the side spears a little bolder and give them more curvature to follow the boat likes.

I think instead of having the side spears curve in, I'll just bring them straight back on the inside. And I'll make the center spear straight edged too, with a more agressive transition at the base.

Here we go, guess I'm not so original. http://media.m-penny.com/files/instance-05/main_photo/2010/03/04/39/07/ec18f0813629a48afd00e86fde6d537a

I sort of like that yellow stripe along the side... hmmm. And I do have a bunch of yellow left.

Curved spear on the pass side, straight on the drivers. I made them both straight but then changed my mind and brough the pass one back in. I think they're too long to be straight like the yellow and white boat. Need to leave them curved.

I can see it. Like it with the curved sides.

Not sure what you and your friend are doing, but that facial expression has definitely got some potential. . .
