View Full Version : March 13th Motorgen Santiago/Live Oak Canyon to Fuddruckers Cruise

Sorry for the relatively late notice everyone - it's been crazy with all the baby stuff and I haven't had time to run any routes or anything. Having said that though, since it's the 2nd Saturday of the month we have to do something, so it's cruise time.
We're doing Santiago Canyon to Live Oak Canyon to Fuddruckers for a meet and dinner. I'm planning to meet at the large shopping center with a Chevron on the corner (cross streets are Jamboree and Chapman). Use this address is you're mapping it out:
8544 E Chapman Ave
Orange, CA 92869
Let's meet up at 3:30p.m. We'll leave the lot at 4:00p.m. Silverado Canyon is nice and the Live Oak Canyon section is really fun to drive - lots of twists and turns.
The cruise should last about an hour (short and sweet this time), and then we'll meet at Fuddruckers in Lake Forest. The address for Fuddruckers is:
23621 El Toro Rd.
Lake Forest CA 92630
For anyone that just wants to meet at Fudds, we should be there at 5:00p.m. in time to beat the dinner rush. It has a large lot and a large room in the back that we should be able to snag. I'll have directions made up for everyone at the meeting point. Here is the route. (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=8544-A+E+Chapman+Ave&daddr=Santiago+Canyon+rd+to:Live+Oak+Canyon+Rd+to: 33.656281,-117.658081+to:23621+El+Toro+Road+Lake+Forest+CA,+9 2630&geocode=FSGfAwIdAhj7-CkbtAMX6trcgDFXrdAygaIM_w%3BFTyZAgIdi9L8-Cm1mpbky8PcgDGJcgG63buHMw%3BFdbpAQIdkob9-A%3B%3BFS39AAIdJwH8-CkDHWCk8OjcgDF4FLP4nbq7Lg&hl=en&mra=dpe&mrcr=1&mrsp=3&sz=14&via=2,3&dirflg=ht&sll=33.648565,-117.636452&sspn=0.031652,0.084543&ie=UTF8&ll=33.703778,-117.664948&spn=0.253055,0.676346&t=h&z=11)
We have lots of cruises we're looking to do over the next couple months. A preliminary schedule would be:
April 10th - Mulholland/Laurel Canyon cruise to Bob's Big Boy
May 8th - Palomar Mountain Cruise
June 12th - Angeles Crest Cruise
Things may change slightly, but that's kind of what I'm shooting for.
For anyone that came on the GMR run, all the media (videos, pictures, etc) is here. (http://www.motorgen.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13428)
See you all Saturday :)

I'm in. I'll be in the Mustang if I can get the driver's side door lock fixed. It's stuck in the locked position, so I have to get in from the passenger side. Kinda' spoils your grand entrance when you have to clamber across the car to get out, ya' know? I'm hoping to get it fixed today. If not, I'll be in the SRT.

Trust me, I was thinking about that as I was driving it to the shop to get fixed. If the passenger door would have picked today to crap out, then out the window I would have gone. Fortunately, the offending door lock actuator that froze the lock mechanism has been replaced, so I'll be in the Stang on Saturday.

Cody, the 17 yr old neighbor with the 68 Olds, had a problem with his car this week. Thought it was just a starter, but the flexplate was shot also. He wanted to go on this cruise so bad, he pulled the motor Thursday, changed the flexplate, and put it back together Friday , so he could make this event :winner: First time , on his first car ! That is a gearhead.

Yeah, this one wasnt exactly a "performance" oriented cruise but it was still a nice route. Lots of different and cool cars plus my wife and I met some nice new people. I do hope next months route is a little quicker... I guess GMR spoiled me. Great meet.
That was a pretty fast burgundy Eagle Talon (hope I got the right model). Good run man.

another fun meet I didnt plan on doing any racing but needed to hit some boost afster that moderate speed run through the canyon. Was a good run vs u c5Natie. Allways wanted to see what a full motor build on a LS6 would run. I get alot of C6ZO6's up my way most wont run my talon cuz they think they have me beat b4 they even try so they wont waste the fuel...then a romp on them and they will just back off. Nice ride man... good to see some one who actually drives their vett not just owns it.
Also was good to see some old friends (paul in the white TT 300Z) havent seen that car in years! Still missed "bobsGSX"!!! sean you give him a verbal thrashing! lol jk bob...make u a deal show up next meet and u can drive the talon

Thnx man. I drive it for what it was built for. No garage queen here. I need my slicks to even out your awd though. lol. I know those cars come off the line hard. Nice ride and that paint is a very nice color. Hopefully next time there wont be an idiot in a suv turning late in front of us!

Well Im 6'6 man and I tried it. No way I can shift in that thing and steer with my knees! Lol. Btw, gold might look good on those wheels but I know its been done. I wanna powdercoat mine statin or matte black.
i thought about satin black, and I have had gold on a previous car. I always like to be different, Eventually the car will be a different color all together but that money doesnt exist currently. I just paint the wheels myself until I find one I like then I will powdercoat them:D
Your car would look insane with matte black wheels:thumbs_up:

Yeah, this one wasnt exactly a "performance" oriented cruise but it was still a nice route. Lots of different and cool cars plus my wife and I met some nice new people. I do hope next months route is a little quicker... I guess GMR spoiled me. Great meet.
That was a pretty fast burgundy Eagle Talon (hope I got the right model). Good run man.
I also had a great time, and wanted to say thanks to Sean for making sure we squeezed a cruise into March. It was a bit relaxed because of the "normals" on the road, but the twisty bits through the hills were very nice. It was great to see such a wide variety of cars show up. I met some great folks, and the on-road behavior in the group I was in was actually quite good.
I was in the "don't call it beige" '86 Mustang and spent most of the run behind the 2nd-gen RX-7, which shot flames out of both tailpipes coming out of one of the tight corners in the hills - very cool!! Barring the unexpected, I'll be there for the next run on April 10. Maybe I'll bring the SRT-4....

Yeah Ive been really thinking about it. Ive also been looking at that Duplicolor Wheel Coating for rims. I might even make it a weekend project and paint them myself. Iv eseen some good results with that stuff. Idk we'll see. Maybe I'll just be extra nice to the wife and see if she'll let me powdercoat them. :smack:
