I think this is a real winner for Ford. it need a 3400 stall, 4.56s, ET streets, and a 150 shot for a awesome 10sec ride!

I'm really curious to see what else they do with the platform. I'm particularly interested in a modern take on a Shelby GT 350, which seems to be in the works.

The new Shelby gets announced tonight at 7 our time. It should be interesting.

I like what they did with the engine. "The new all-aluminum V-8, with 4 valves per cylinder and variable valve timing (intake and exhaust", I just wish GM would do the same with the LS engines.

Well, actually the LS motor is going to be easier to make NA hp. It all has to do with bore size. The LS is a better size than the 5.0 FORD motor. I'm sad. Looks like the LS is going to cheaper to build.:leaving:

It's hard to beat the price of a LSx or a SBC

The next Corvette is going to be a smaller displacement, like 5.4L~. I'm guessing it'll still be OHV. I wonder if they'll just shorten up the stroke of the the LS3?

I seriously hope not! This would do away with any aftermarket cylinder heads and ultimately become a restriction.

GM has had direct injection for some time. I can't comprehend why it hasn't been released on the corvette:boggled:. I would also like a honest twin clutch manual transmission instead of the automatic. We still need the full manual though for the big builds!

Good point, I didn't think about that.:boggled:

GM did make a DOHC 4 valve per cylinder V8 with variable intake and exhaust timing, supercharged and intercooled. Also output over 100hp per liter and 100ft-lbs of tq per liter.

GM did with the DOHC 4 valves per cylinder LT5. It was too expensive. The LS motors are more compact and lighter than the 4.6 and likely the 5.0 mod motor fords. The Gen3/4 SBC's get equivalent or better gas mileage to the 4.6-5.4 liter fords. The Gen3/4 SBC's have always been more torquey than the mod motors. And until the 5.0 comes out there mod motors haven't been competitive to Gen4 SBC's in power either N/A or supercharged. The SBC's are fine with a cam in block and pushrods. Keeps 'em small, light, and powerful. perfect for slipping into little unsuspecting imports. Good luck getting even a SOHC mod motor under a RX-7's hood.

What motor are you referring to? Certainly not a production motor.

edit: As soon as the page loaded and i saw your STS i thought of the STS-V with its supercharged northstar.

I once saw a 70s era Toyota Celica with a Terminator motor in it. It was brutal. No firewal and a fair chunk of the bell housing was just in the driver's compartment.

Sounds like a refined highway cruiser.
