Have a final tomorrow morning at 9am, worth only 90% of my grade as opposed to the usual 100%. Tried to get some Starbucks tonight, Neon won't fire up. Dead. Of course. Won't pop start. Oh crap, how am I going to get to school tomorrow.

Spilled some RC Cola on the battery terminals and cleaned them off with a scotch brite pad, fired right up. :D

Mythbusters did a thing on that and it made no difference. Scotch brite alone would have been just as good.

Generally true, but I think there's one case where it helps a bit extra and that's with rust. :huh: Vodka is useful for some things (other than drinking Leedom.)

Baking soda is just as good as Coca Cola is, it doesnt help. I just use a wire prush and call it a day.

How did Myth Busters do the test? Did they just pour it on and measure the difference in resistance?

Because I don't think pouring it on only would make a noticable difference, it's not going to eat through corosion like acid. But rubbing the terminals with the scotch brite and the cola I would think would have made more of a difference.

It's like brake cleaner or carb cleaner. Pouring it on in liquid form wouldn't do to much, but pouring it on and then rubbing the material with a cloth is what gets rid of the gunk.

We use baking soda at the shop to clean battery terminals. It's acid neutralizing alkaline works very well. You should see some of the 1/2 thick crusty crap it breaks down. We see it all the time. You still have to scrub a little. It works lots better than the spray "battery cleaner" crap from Pep Boys.
I love Mythbusters, but some of the testing they do falls short.I think They claimed dropping a penny in the carb was harmless. They never opened the throttle far enough for the penny to fall past.
And sugar in the gas tank would not do damage. Chuck just replaced the fuel pump, injectors and filter, cleaned the tank of a Tacoma that got sugared. It was jacked up !! Would not run at all.
And the knucklehead failed to get a locking cap and got hit again. Musta really pissed off somebody:pot_stir:
