View Full Version : Where did the Ford Motor Company Go?

So I am driving back from my parent house on wednesday and as we come off the toll road and hit the 5 I see a building that I have driven by for years. The Ford Motor Company building but this time it really catches my eye. Instead of the Ford Motor Company script logo I need a giant Taco Bell Logo?! What the hell? When did this happen?

I think that was just a design center. Good question.

I have two guesses:

1 - Part of an overall consolidation strategy, and let's face it, CA continues to be a dog shit business environment on the whole. Nissan moved all operations a few years back and a somewhat surprising number of upper-middle class technical and professional people continue to leave. The recession has accelerated this because people have lost gigs and the cost of living is stupid compared to many places.

2 - They've moved to another part of CA with a smaller facility. CA (SoCal) is still the world's (!) car Mecca with many inherent advantages.

From what I remember reading, since they got rid of Jag and the other EXTRA shit,they didn't need that building any more.:confused:
