January Motorgen Meet and Cruise - JANUARY 10th!!!

Monthly Motorgen Meet. A variety of cars come out including:

-Evos
-WRXs
-DSMs
-TurboBuicks
-Syclones/Typhoons
-Supras
-350z
-G35/37
-Mustangs/Cobras

-and others.

The meeting is at Nick's Burger in Fullerton. The address is:

Generally we have been having this meet at 7:30 and then have been doing cruises afterward, but we're going to switch it up this month. We are planning to meet at the parking lot across the street from Nick's at 4:00 p.m. and then go on a cruise for a couple hours. We are then planning on ending up back at Nick's between 6 and 6:30 where we will have the meet and eat dinner.

The official meet will start at 6:30 this month. The food at Nick's is pretty good and we can just hang out there until everyone feels like leaving. We are going to go test drive some cruise routes this Sunday, and I'll post up the exact directions for the cruise part this Monday. If anyone has any suggestions please post them up in this thread. Also, for anyone interested we are doing a dyno day before our next meet on February 21st. The details for that meet are here. The Canyon between C and D is one of the best, if not the best driving road local to these parts. It is VERY technical, you'll be continually steering, double apex turns, decreasing radius turns, continuous elevation change, on and off camber turns, damn narrow with an okay surface. Absolutely PERFECT for a ralley style car or shorter wheelbase sports car.

Probably not since I haven't done anything. Then again, I've been down a couple MPH at my last outings, so that should be a clearly lower peak HP. I've got project car on the brain right now. Anyway, I'm 10x the stickler for following rules than you are . . . hippie.:hippy:

No joke, you could probably run the whole thing in 1st, with touches of 2nd, it's that tight. It's not really well suited to a Vette's strenghts, but a ralley car. But it'll be fun for everyone who manages to keep i on the road. :smack:

Sounds like a hoot. I'll say this little stretch of road is technical enough that you'd need to run it several times before stepping into the throttle or bad things will happen. So we need to keep an eye on Sean. :nutkick:

Adam, you'd have me from the launch no doubt... from a roll I'm not so sure... but i think i'd at least hang with you... if i lost it probably wouldn't be by too much...

I'm underestimating my car right now cause it's not dynoed... intake and exhaust should add close to 15hp on the low scale, and as much as 24 on the higher scale... adding an aftermarket WGA with boost set at 17psi should also make a HUGE difference... can't wait.

Alright everyone, this is my final bump for the meet. Just go go over things again here is the schedule:

4:00 P.M. Meet at the giant parking lot across the street from Nick's Burger. The address for Nick's is:

4:30 P.M. Leave for the cruise. The cruise goes through Turnbull Canyon. The route is nice and curvy and is a fairly technical drive. It should be a route that anyone will have a great time driving (but especially Vette's, Evo's and Sti's). Here is the route for anyone interested. 6:00-6:30 P.M. Arrive back at Nick's. We'll then have the meet and people that are hungry can get dinner. The meet will go until everyone wants to leave. We have the permission of the restaurant owners, so please be respectful so they let us come back. Please don't do any burnouts, rev your engine or turn up any crazy loud stereo systems. So far everyone has been really cool at the meets and we really appreciate that, so thanks :)

After this meet I'll put up a new thread, but next month the meet will be on February 21st. (http://www.motorgen.com/forum/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=1184&day=2009-2-21&c=1) We are going to do a dyno day at RET that will run from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. A maximum of 45 cars can go during the course of the day. The price for the dyno is going to be 3 pulls for $45. I am really trying to put together a good variety of vehicles and I think it will be very interesting to see what everyone puts down. We will provide soda and water for everyone. As far as lunch is concerned we are thinking of getting pizza or something so bring some extra cash if that sounds good to you. After the dyno we'll caravan back to Nick's and do the meet.

If you want to dyno, I am requiring you to please register here (http://www.motorgen.com/forum/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=1184&day=2009-2-21&c=1). In order to add your name to the list you have to be a registered user. The registration process takes about 30 seconds, so I'm hoping it won't be too inconvenient for anyone.

to tell you the truth it was freakin nuts!!!! i loved it just which i knew the run better so i could have been in front and not been held up by drum breaks, and the only cobra there without a supercharger lol.

honestly i could have ran it faster....but in reality those guys being iin front of me probably kept me from killing myself...ill admit there where parts of the run where i was getting too confident and those where followed by parts that had me on edge.

as a side note the red vette with the chrome grill scared the crap out of me a few times. he was the only car behind me and he was really trying to match me on alot of stuff and he seriously came close to rear ending me a few times. one of those times i actually moved outta the way into a spare left turning lane really quick. crazy domestic lol

all in all it was a fun ass night im down to do the run again.

my car is old and slow...if she lasts me till i graduate i'm going to supercharge!!!! hell maybe even before that depending on how bummed i am after the dyno :D
but yeah the misfire seemed to have been corrected once i changed plugs and wires, its been running fine since then and nothing came up on the scan so :huh:
ls1z28 said he'd take a look and scan it with his Tech 2 (i think?) too so since its a long wknd i'm gonna try to come up and meet up with him

Way back many many many years ago I used to race that road. Hell , being in High School I thought I couldn't die. A few of the others did on that road, mostly passing cars though.

As we got going I actually fell into the old grove. I could of gone faster but that Yellow Mach kept getting in my way. I almost passed him, but remembered my speech about no passing.:rolling::rolling:

OK canyon cruises are cool for me... that last canyon cruise we did through trabuco canyon? 65-95mph low to high speed in my lowered stock integra some time ago back w/ no hesitation and not even pushing it... I used to cruise that whole canyon every once and a while for kicks...

Still haven't taken the SRT through anything like that at anywhere near potential.

Turnbull is much harder than Trabuco. In fact I think it's the most techincal road you can get to without going into the mountains.
